Hi All,I have had Mike's XS60C PCP for a year now. I have not been able to get any decent grouping at 20 yards. I think it needs some serious lubing and some tuning. Now here's the problem: I have no idea what to do and where to start. The only tuning I have done was to tinker with the power screw. I have it completely flush with the nut at the end of the rifle. I also noticed that there was a spring right there. I think that some lubing is definitely needed. What can I do to tune this rifle and what should I do to lube it and keep it in top shape? Thanks
At 20 yards my groups are one big hole. That's the 22. The 177 not so much. With the 22 I've cut off the barrel band to float the barrel. The 177 took a bit of adjustment to get rid of a valve lock problem. Groups were not great but I didn't try floating the barrel. I never shot it much and now it's been donated to a good friend for a bottle project. What have you tried to improve the groups? What do the groups look like? Cleaning barrel? Different pellets? Mine shows a preference for JSB 18.1gr. The difference between the best and worst pellets is amazing. JSB makes one hole groups whole RWS Superdomes makes groups measured in inches!
The first few shots are in the 400 fps. Then it goes up to around 800 fps and finally around low 900 fps. I don't think that this is pellet related. There has to be something besides pellet weights and brands. This is why I have asked for help in tuning my rifle.
At 10 yards my groups are over 6 inches. Sometimes the pellet would go left, at other times they would go right.
Yeah, at that power setting, pellets should be screaming out the barrel.Have you slid the trigger group around?Back off the power 2 turns. Loosen the entire trigger assembly (2 screws) and slide it all the way back.If it wont cock, nudge the assembly forward until it will.It is small, but that will give you a little more hammer travel/momentum for a stronger strike on the valve. No other air leaks around the probe? Those settings and same pellets on my .22 FDPCP and a 1400 psi fill give me 21 shots from 720 fps to 840 and back to 720.
I bet you had a big ol' smile on your face after the first few shots! Sure beats a 6 inch group!
Add a depinger and a slightly modified umarex compensator on the end of these FDPCPs and they will really bring a big smile to your face.
