Title: Beeman R1 Fiber Optic Front Sight
Post by: Desert Rat on June 24, 2011, 04:15:59 PM
I have a Beeman R1 with a globe front sight on it that is just too small for my old eyes.
A fiber optic front sight would sure be nice! The barrel is 0.625 inches in diameter
and has a dovetail milled into it parallel to the bore that measures 0.332 inches that the
globe sight clamps onto. The dovetail is similar to the one on the rear of the receiver used
for scope mounting.

I am brand new to air guns and would appreciate any advice you folks might be able
to provide!

Others will have to chime in about the fit of these, Hector over on DWC posted about these(or similar) and said slight filing may be in order.

Not cheap but proper. Could try fluorescent paint.

Cheaper still get some neon paint from a model/hobby store or try a dab or white out.

Thank you gentlemen! This will get me on the right track and give me several options. I bought the rifle used and the docs that came with it were dated in the 1983 to 1985 time frame. I have only the one very thin post insert. The uk web site has a much newer schematic and has full fiber sight assemblies for both front and rear. This forum and its members are amazing.

Thank you both for your input. You have made me a very happy camper!
