Formula for determining FPS

Any hints on the math to calculate the FPS of a rifle based upon the ChairGun application, with a rifle zeroed at say 20 yards, and measuring the drop at say 40 yards with a known pellet? It seems to me this should be a fairly accurate velocity measure if we have the right mathematics and have no wind to account for.
Anyone care to take a stab? Seems like it should be a Newtonian formula.
Thanks.
I would be happy to program a spreadsheet or Python script with the formula and share it.

Now I know what you're talking about, excuse me, please!

No big math need.
In Chairgun, plug in all the known data, then try plugging in different speeds and see which one comes closest to producing an arc that hits your 20 and 40 yard marks. That's gonna be pretty close to the speed that's giving you your 20/40 yrd hits.
