Title: The Hahn BB Super Repeater
Post by: Rickey on September 19, 2011, 10:40:21 PM
My Dad gave me this little gun sometime  back.  According to the web site Vintage Gun Advertisements it was made in 1959 by Hahn in NY.  The advertisement says its a 30 round repeater.  You can see it has a magazine beside the barrel with a spring keeper and when you cock it the bb holder comes out of the side of the receiver.  The co2 cartridge says Daisy.   Are there any collectors out there that can give me some idea as to how rare it is and a guess as to the worth?  I don't know if you can see but it has a little rust on the barrel.  I tried to oil it a little and wipe cobwebs off to help its appearance.  I hope the pics turnout ok.  thanks for your input Rickey

I just saw one on GunBroker, listed as a Crosman, though.
No bids yet, but the seller started the asking at $125...
I know that's not definitive info, but it might give an idea.  Here's a link:

Rickey: The Hahn guns (rifle and Peacemaker six-gun) were a Crosman made gun, Mr. Hahn went to work at Crosman Co. (also in Fairfield NY) who purchased his designs and kept the name on certain models due to name recognition (this is just my questionable memory at work here:-)

Your rifle is a bit rare, not many survived after all these years but, it's worth is based on value by collectors, not shooters. I have seen them go for $190+ in 90% condition. The Six-Gun/Rifle sets go for quite a bit more $.

There a neat little bb-shooter you see them on gun brokers fromm time to time. 100.00-150 dollars. There like new one for sale with a buy now price of 125.00. Mac-1 says in his opinion One of best bb-shooter made. Real cowboy action shooting.

Hahn BB super repeater according to the Crosman book 75 years of Crosmans they kept them under the Hahn name because Crosmans at the time didn't see BB guns as nothing more than toys and Crosman didn't sell toys. This idea didn't last long when they saw the sales of the Hahn and other company's BB guns take off.
I now have a working one of these in my collection I got it as part of a group of guns I won at auction nice to know it's worth something. Not just a lovely rifle in my gun cupboard .

OK, I just joined the "Hahn 166 Club."  I just purchased one from Dennis Baker at Airgun Repair.  It will need new seals, but otherwise looks to be in pretty good condition.  I will post pictures once I have it.

I just finished restoring  the Crosman/Hahn 166 that I recently purchased.  I stripped and refinished the wood, repainted the receiver, cleaned up the valve, tightened the springs.  It looks and shoots great.  I am selling it for $100 since I have a second one that I am keeping for myself.  It is listed on American Airguns and Gun Broker.  I will add pictures tomorrow.

Here are pictures of my finished 166.  Nice little bb gun.   It is a lot of fun to shoot.

I just put the finishing touches on my second Crosman 166 bb repeater.  Although my first rebuild shot fairly accurate (for a bb gun) this one is all over the place.  I mean - spreads of 6" at a range of 10 feet!  The only thing I can see that might be the cause is the bb loader (metal cam that rotates out to the loader to pick up a bb, then rotates back to the barrel) seems a little loose.  Maybe the bb is not aligned at the end of the barrel, causing it to nick the end of the barrel and fly erratically.  Anyone else ever see a similar problem?

I just finished restoring my second 166 bb repeater.  The accuracy was horrible - bb's flying all over the place.  I finally looked at the muzzle and, alas, the hole was not even close to round!  I'm going to attempt to re-crown it and will let you know if it fixes the accuracy problem.  I'm guessing it will.
