Title: Books On Airgun Repair?
Post by: dwood5 on June 11, 2011, 10:56:02 PM
I'm sure this topic has been discussed before but my search came up empty.

I'm wondering if there are any books available on airgun repair/disassembly etc. I've got lots of firearm disassembly books, but my Googling attempts have come up short on airgun books.

I would especially like the book to have exploded views of various makes/models and a step-by-step procedure for taking them apart.

Thanks in advance.

Another great place to find exploded diagrams for AGs and PBs is www.stevespages.com/page7b.htm (http://www.stevespages.com/page7b.htm) ,it has a ton of diagrams and info.

Thanks to all that replied. I'm new to this forum and didn't realize the "library" existed. Some of the other links I had seen before.

I have downloaded 'exploded views' of several of my airguns. But I'm still missing some basic info. For example, if I want to tear down my RWS48, I would need to know the order of parts removal.

I watched a video of a guy disassembling one of his airguns [not an RWS]. It appeared that the spring needed to be retracted only slightly before the trigger group could be removed, then the remainder of the spring preload released. It wasn't clear to me if the cocking arm linkage needed to be removed before the spring was removed.

I own a machine shop, have all the necessary tools and mechanical aptitude, but no experience working on airguns. I don't want to learn by trial and error on my airgun!<g>

Here is a link for your 48, but use a spring compresser.

You do not need to remove anything but the stock and the 2 trigger pins to remove the spring and piston from a 48, but you will need a spring compressor to reassemble it correctly, to line up the trigger pin holes in the trigger group. :P
