the gun always sounds loud to the shooter....heres why.your cheek weld amplifies the sound, your ears are tied into your mouth....lol.the vibrations from the shot are amplified by your cheek bone,to you it sounds louder than it sounds to someone 5 yards away.just something to think about.
lambchopsa disco with tko is not as loud as a break barrel.. break barrels dont really benefit from shrouds because 90% of what you hear is the action..ive shot my disco 10ft from my cat and he didnt even budge..if some one who has a disco with tko is willing to do this, this is what i did to show walt aka 0351vet what a tko does.call each other on the phone and have the person go outside and shoot their disco with out the tko, then set the phone down so they can put the tko back on and then shoot again.. walt was deff able to hear the difference
I see a Discovery in my future, but i'm doubting how quiet it ACTUALLY is with a TKO. Recently I shot my Benjamin 397 with a 4.0 gr Crosman alloy pellet at 8 pumps. It was really, really loud, almost if not more louder than my WFH. So how loud is a Discovery compared to a Benjamin 397? I've also heard that even with a TKO a Discovery isn't that quiet...

My RWS sounds like a .22 rimfire going off pushing those little pellets at 1376 fps.
With a tko the ping in my airtube when I would shoot was louder then the shot..Lambchops, you will not be disappointed with a disco.. there are some videos on youtube that will give you can idea of the sounds of a disco and I really would have been up for giving you a call to hear the difference in my garage if I had my tko here. Would only have to remove the shroud...Would anyone with a disco and a tko before for giving lambchops a call and taking a shot or 2 with and with out the tko on their disco ?
I dont find the diso loud at all with the tko, deffinatly loud when its off. In the woods even without the tko its hard to hear, sound doesnt seem to carry.

The thing about the Discovery, though, is that it pretty much requires an aftermarket shroud if you're in an urban environment. But by that time, you're almost at the price of a Marauder, which is a better option overall. The noise difference between a stock Discovery and a Marauder is huge down-range. One has a typical PCP airgun type "bang" to it and the other is more like a moderate noise from some random object. ie: a Hammer or closing your car's hood or whatever.
