benji trail on "Brown" (arrived) + Day one

The Benji came yesterday as I noted. Got a chance to put about 79 rounds through it today.Tried several pellets. I have a couple of guns that just love Tech Force. This isn't one of them. I shot rws Basic, Crosman hollows, Crosman match Wads, Crosman "Destroyers" The Destroyers may have been a tick better, but the gun liked the hollows about as well and didn't care all that much for the Match Wads.
Bear in mind that we are still in "the "Break in period" The gun and shooter managed consistant 1/4 (coin) sized groups with Crosman brands at 15 yards. The trigger (#@@#@). I adjusted it two full turns and noticed no difference. The GRT will be here lated in the week. The noise level is already down to quiet. The crack of the pellet hitting the target is louder. A little early to say, but if nothing breaks I think we can teach it to be a shooter.

Sounds like once you get the GRT-III in there you'll have something to work with. Keep us posted on your progress with it.

I will keep a running journal for a few days. I will probably put some more rounds through it today just to get through the break in process.

Sounds promising so far and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the gun and setup as you go along. Btw, I personally was a pellet snob for far too long, refusing to even try tins without european origins, i've been shocked since my recovery, to also have good results from chinese pellets like TF, but the very best pellets i've run across are crosman premeirs and their seemingly identical twin, the benjamin disco pellets. In the majority of my crosman guns they typically shoot better than anything else. Best of luck with your new rifle! Jeff

It is now day 2. Observations today. The gun is very hold sensitive. It is very pellet sensitive.
I put about 60-70 shots through it today and had just shot my first sub dime sized group, with crosman hollows, when the mail lady arrived.
In my mail box was a grt III. So I am reading the instructions again and the next post will be with a Da Tuna trigger installed.

Sounds like you got a shooter there!
I don't have a GP in 117 but the 117 Destroyers work in the guns I have.
CPHP in 22 work the best for me in my XL1100, I'll try the Destroyers when they come out in 22.
I have some H&N FTT in 22 but it's been too windy.
Keep us updated!

Got grt installed. Put the gun back together. Didn't like the factory setting on the trigger. Felt like just one continuous
fairly long creep. Adjusted the second stage about a 3/8 turn tighter and got what I was looking for; a distinctly softer first stage and a crisp beak in the second. I was shooting a lot of pellets that I didn't need to have around. waiting on the grt. Got it in 3 days from it being mailed. I started working my way through the crosman line and was doing ok.
Prior to the trigger change I had just gotten a sub dime group with hollows. I broke out the last tin of h+n sport 8.18 grain finale match rifle. no cleaning no changing anything, shot the group pictured. 7 shot string. I think I'll keep the Benji Np. And that is the end of this story

Nice. Did you get the wood stock or the all weather stock? I sure have been pleased with my Trail NP.

Got the All Weather. I love the Wood, but I am too clutsy to take care of it properly.
