Out of the box Gen 1.5 velocities

I cleaned the barrel, nothing else was touched. I first bulk filled with C02 while waiting for my pcp pump from China, with velocities hovering around 500fps with a 7.9 grain Benjamin hp. I stopped counting the shots at around 50, but I'd say 60-70 shots before I could hear it dropping off pressure. An interesting side note, when filled with co2 the fill nipple leaked enough to pop off the rubber cover after about an hour. It does not do this on HPA however- I supposed the higher pressure seals it. Emptied gun and filled to 1700psi and ran 20 shots over the chrono. 745 737 714 725 705 705 698 692 687 691 684 679 678 673 667 662 658 655 651 648. At the end of 20 shots the pressure was still around 1350psi. Definitely have some tinkering to do, I want a bit faster and flatter... and it almost seems like it wants more fill pressure? Gonna start with the trigger group preload and the hammer spring screw and see what happens before I go drilling out the transfer port.

please remove the name on the rifle from your post...try up to 2000 psi and no more in the rifle, also adjust the striker for flatter shot string...

Thank you for the advice. Mike, I believe you said backing out the screw on the 1.5 actually increases velocity? What would cause that, the small transfer port bottlenecking air?

After reading this went the opposite way with hammer screw, turned it out all the way. Filled it to a hair below 2000 mark and got 795 with the 7.9 crosman hollow point. Getting a little on the louder side so can't to see how a heavier pellet performs. No time for a shot string but I'll try tomorrow.

My FDPCP Gen. 1.5 (#2)
Showed up on the 12th of March
Out of the box Gen 1.5 velocities at 1500-1600 psi
Daisy P.= 747, 734, 737,
Cros HP.= 699
Cros P.= 699, 699
Cros Wad= 734, 718
Cros Heavy domes 10.5gr.= 620, 617
Daisy P. = 699, 724, 718
This is as what mike stated in the AD.
A lot less sound than my 1st Gen. 1.5, (that I asked to be opened up)
The 1st one is very loud but does shoot at 1100+ fps
I'm very happy with my FD guns, They are what the history of AirGuns are, PCP!

Quick update... I dug into the Gen 1.5 like a baby into a birthday cake. Like Mike said, the valve was designed for a lot of shots on co2 and I can see why... the port is .065! I opened that baby up to .080 and went from an average of about 700fps(almost flush striker screw) to an 845 average with an 881fps peak. Also, not sure if it made a difference or not--but I ground down a little protrusion on the steel valve guide thus allowing slightly more travel of the valve stem. I then backed out the screw 2 turns and found my bliss(830 avg over 25 shots), quite a nice feeling getting my first PCP to shoot the string I wanted. BTW I'm running 2,000psi fills

Looks like you finally got those good numbers! Did you just drill the valve hole and what size drill bit did you use? Also what weight pellets did you use for testing? Thanks for posting up your findings. T

Yup, just drilled the hole a little bigger. I found the bit I used, has no size marking on it but it measured .078 and that converts to 5/64th...I rounded up to .080 as a guess of true size. I do all my velocity testing with the Benjamin 750 count 7.9 grain HP, cheap and none of my guns shoot them that well. It shoots nothing made by Crosman very well, and just like my other guns it loves the AA 8.4g and the JSB 7.33g--leaning towards the AA.

Hi Max
Could you put up a picture or drawing that shows what you drilled out?
Thank you

Shooting is not about theory, it's about practice.

The exhaust port of the valve is what needs to be drilled. You must do a complete disassembly to get to it, and the orings that seal the valve will probably need to be replaced because mine got shredded like cheese on all of the sharp edges. So you will also need to deburr the receiver before putting the valve back to avoid oring damage. There is an exploded parts view of the xs60 online, I used that for dissassembly.

How are these modified to accept a 2kpsi fill and be safe?
