Stephen you really shouldn't miss your next optical appointment. :-)
Has anyone stripped the paint off a Gen 1.5 breech? Mine looks... not as swell as that one. Heavy brush marks from the cover-up paint so it's got to go and get refinished. I'm thinking black baked on caliper paint or maybe something more matte. Any input on a good stripper for the "aftermarket finish"?I notice the gap between the barrel and filler is a lot bigger on the gun pictured above than it is on my Gen 1.5, my problem child Gen 1 is actually touching. The PO had the rubber nipple cover jammed in there. Is there a lot of variation in that area or have I got at least one bent barrel? Any already known fix?

Hmm... I wonder how a brushed metal finish would look...Too bad the Gen 1.5 has a plastic barrel band.
