I have a P1322 which has been fitted with a Cothran .22 extended probe/bolt. I more recently acquired a Custom Shop 1300KT in .177 to which I installed a 2300-123 assy bolt w/magnet & handle (2300S pistol part). What I'm finding though is that the handle "flops around" whether cocked or not, and the bolt seems to be undersized in the breech although there is no loss of air pressure when cocked and seated. (I did check the probe o-ring of the 2300-123 and it is as it should be.) The Cothran, on the other hand, is solid and stays where put.
Question: why is the 2300-123 such a sloppy fit in the Custom Shop steel breech? What can I do to remedy this?
Appreciate the sanity checks!

what if we removed all the warning labels, and let nature take it's course?

your breech taper is probably too deep. first thing I would do is check to see if the transfer port is centered in the matching hole in the breech. if it sets a little forward, you have room to work with. next, you'll want to shorten the breech end of the barrel. you can do this with a hand file. just keep checking your progress. the idea is to take enough off the end of the barrel to bring the " cone " of the breech closer to the end. most times, that will tighten up the fit of the bolt, but, not always. occasionally, the breech is still too big, to get a tight fit. at that point, adding a slightly larger o-ring usually tightens things up a bit more.

I appreciate the reply. Isn't a breech problem like this rather unusual in a Custom Shop gun?

nice looking guns
so, how'd you fix the problem? larger o-ring, or shave down the breech end of the barrel? I kinda got a bug up my butt about the custom shop. when you pay for a "custom" gun, and immediately have to tear it apart to pay some attention to things like polishing the entire trigger assembly, because it feels like the sears are coated with sandpaper, or, fitment problems, or the finish looks like a kindergartner did it, you get the idea. I don't call that custom. not when you have to do all the things that they should've done, in the first place. I call that a semi-finished kit gun. if you look at it in that perspective, it's not a bad deal, especially if you want an LW barrel, or wood grips, and don't mind spending some time making sure everything is put together properly.
also, you can't piece one together, from various other sources, for the same price.

Let me be completely honest. I tore it down and reassembled it and the problem disappeared. No clue as to the what's and why's. My best thinking at this point is that I must have done something when putting it back together after installing the 2300S bolt assembly. And yeah it's embarassing for this septuagenarian.

I think we've all been there. I tore down my 1300kt three times before I was able to get my older 22" barrel to fit right. I had to keep telling myself to slow down and observe what was going on... It turned out that the stronger hammer spring would cause everything to shift and bind on assembly mockup. Easy peasy. I pulled the hammer spring and put it back when everything else was assembled and buttoned down.

Brass pear shaped bolt handle showed up. I think I'm done tweaking for the foreseeable future.
