For under $200 I would be patient and look for a used gun that had what I wanted. Sooner or later something should show up. I've seen some pretty nice stocks but they weren't on guns that I was looking for and usually they were a bit more than $200, but I would wait. Put the money aside and after enough months if you still haven't found what you're looking for maybe you could add it to the "new" $200 request and get under the radar with a $400 gun. For me, my two Hatsan 95's fill the bill just fine for now. They both are different in grain but I get that good feeling holding either of them. Oddly, one of my Hatsans has quite nicer grain than the other but I just realized that the engravings on one side is lower than on the other side, obviously so, once you know about it. Even though you can't see both sides at once it aggravates me. It also has a "rough" area inside under the bottom where you can't see it and can only feel it with your fingers but knowing it's there when the other gun is smooth as silk just chaps me. But this gun shoots so sweet and is right on target so well that I can't bear parting with it for fear of what I might get in return! I bought it for a spare parts gun if needed and so I told myself to just grow up and appreciate the things that really matter. I'm not sure what Hatsan used to finish the stock in but I was a little put off with the bland finish mine had on them (smooth but dull). But in places where I handle it they seem to be polishing out very nicely on their own so I'm confident that when I figure out what they used to seal the stocks with I'll be able to bring mine out to very nice polished luster. I think you might be pretty happy with a Hatsan for more than just the stocks. I found my Vortex 95 for $150 and my springer 95 for $125 (both new). My cravings seem to be satisfied pretty well. I admire fine craftsmanship and nice wood myself having had woodworking as a hobby for many years. I'm getting to old to chase some things and find it gratifying to admire the good fortune of others.

Hey Badgerfan,1) The Hatsan 1000X stock is nicely stained, light, cheap hardwood. It looks pretty good, I'm not sure you will be satisfied.2) The Hatsan 95 comes with Turkish Walnut. The quality you get is "hit & miss". You may get a "DOG" 3) The Hatsan 95 will be much harder to shoot accurately than the HW's you speak of.4) To really have a nicer, Hatsan stock shine, you will need to refinish it.5) I would recommend going to the GTA Mall, and to Airgunstocks. For $100 you can be a lower end blank, which is going to be nicer than on most pellet guns. I believe he will inlet it for you for another $100. You would then finish. I think this is your best bet. Here is one of my nicer Hatsan 95's: http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n227/kirk_schwarz/Hatsan95177cal_zpscdc2183c.jpgKirk
