Great phone call on tuning this one.I'll offer some advise to other self tuners.I use .004 Stainless steel shim stock inside the piston to help reduce spring twang.Until I get the lathe to make proper spring guides? I use that Aluminium Furnace tape to wrap the stock guides.I only use ARH Moly lube and piston seals. I also use ARH old skool buttons on every one I touch. You'll love them once you try them!I use to do the soda bottle and punch thing but Jim's Buttons are the trip!I'm not a Pro Tuner. And I offer the same thing to any owner that allows me to play with their Gun.If you ain't happy? I'll buy it!
So I took my 95V apart to fit the seal. It clearly was too tight. The day after my first tin of H&N FTT pellets arrived. I had ordered 5.53,4, and 5. Got the 5.54s. Checked the new seal fitting and velocity was back up to mid-600s. I had done a test using CPs of pushing a pellet through the barrel. There was an area about half way where it nearly fell through on its own until it got to the choke area. The FTT were clearly a tighter fit. Velocity dropped a little but accuracy went way up. I'm now shooting one ragged hole from 50 feet rested. I was hoping it would shoot a bit faster but shooting at altitude seems a bit unpredictable. I have a RWS 36 in .177 that hits 850 with CPLs so it's not slowed much.
