I'm considering buying either the Natsan Sniper 125 vortex .25 or Benjamin Trail NP XL air rifle in .25. I have never handled or shot either of these guns. I know the scope and bi pod that comes with the Natsan are garbage and the scope on the Benjamin is junk. The Benjamin also has no sights and a junk trigger. Scopes aside which would you consider the better quality rifle as they are both in the same price range. I'm leaning torwards the Natsan but would like to hear what others think.

Hatsan scope isn't all that great either.
There are a lot of considerations not the least of which is if something isn't right with the gun do you plan on fixing it yourself? I think you may get lots of answers but the best way to decide is start reading through the posts after doing some specific keyword searches based upon what is most important to you. Warranty, QC or quality, refurb, mod, and accuracy are decent keywords, and the GTA Library has a lot of good info too.
What doesn't get discussed, or perhaps just doesn't get looked for enough, is price point for what you get. It is easy to set your price up front and settle on something, but you can end up with issues or be unsatisfied with a cheap $100 to $200 gun down the road and find yourself wishing you had spent more up front for one that didn't have the issues a cheaper one is likely to have. Or even find that you get treated better on warranty with the more expensive ones (maybe a company will offer to pay return shipping on a pricier one?).
All these are considerations you may just find spark more questions you want to add to that keyword search
Welcome to the GTA Scott!
Oh, my vote, if you can work on them, Hatsan, if not, Benjamin. Going to cheat here and add a third choice - Remington Express.

Daisy 880 - on my 3rd
RWS Diana 34 (long, sad story)
Remington Express .22 (bad piston seal)
Daisy 415 (x2) - gave away
Daisy 408 - holds CO2 if bulb tip is teflon wrapped
Crosman 1377 - very accurate
Ruger Air Hawk - jury still out
Beeman 0035 (eBay sellers uck)
XISICO XS60C in .177
Crosman 760's X2 - parts ordered...
Crosman 2260

Hey Scott! Welcome!
About six months ago I was in your same shoes. Hatsan or Benjamin? Well, I eventually decided on the Hatsan. After getting it, holding it and shooting it along side of a Benjamin, for me there was no debate. The Hatsan wins hands down. The Power, accuracy, workmanship, the ability to adjust, tweak or just leave alone, all went to the Hatsan 125. The ONLY down side, if you can call it that, is that it's heavier. But, after a few days of lugging it around the woods, you forget about the pounds.
I went open sights for a while, then added a cheap CP 3-9x32 scope. I was a little concerned that it wouldn't hold up, but after 1500 pellets....it's doing just fine. For what I do, it does the job nicely. Although...ground squirrels, out to 80 yards, don't care for it much.

You could probably figure by looking at my signature that I would pick the Hatsan, and you would be right. I have also shot the Benjamin 25 cal and would not trade any of my Hatsans for one. JMHO

If I was looking for another break barrel I'd seriously look into the Hatsan 135. Not only is it a sharp looker with that wood stock it also has a wee bit more volume in piston chamber. If going for .25 cal and a break barrel I'd want the most out of that power plant I could find- that's the Hatsan 135. Under lever version is 155. If .25 cal is not really needed then their 95 option does well enough with .22 cal. Personally I think the 125,135 is perfect in .22 if long range is your thing. If range is not a factor then the 95 is lighter gun and with wood stock.
It's of no import to me of the poor main piston seals Hatsan is known for. If you own a break barrel there will come a day no matter the price point you started at that those seals need to be replaced. Vortex or gas ram are far easier to open than a spring. To perform a light tune on a Hatsan with vortex ram you only need a screw clamp, punch, small hammer and very large screw driver. It's not hard and after market seals are readily available for little money. One of those and small amount of moly paste is all you need to greatly improve the shot cycle of your gun. Run the stock seal as long as it lasts and learn how to change it. My stock seal lasted about 1500 shots, expect the new better fitting and quality seal to last far longer.

I've shot several crosman spring and gas piston guns, and one hatsan. Hands down the hatsan wins, if only to avoid that terrible trigger from crosman - the quattro trigger is far far better than anything Crosman makes except maybe the marauder trigger.
