Found this on the Yellow Forum. Here's the link to the Shot Show article. It's about halfway down the page.

Interesting idea.

I saw that earlier and still think it's a horrible idea. I mean a break barrel in .25 cal is pushing things in my mind but they work well. Move that up to .30 cal and your looking at the same FPE but twice the drop in relatively short range.
Lets say 135 in .25 cal with 25 grain pellet. That's around 3.5 inch drop with 21 FPE at 50 yrds.
Try that 135 in .30 cal with 44 grain pellet. That's around 7 inch drop with 22 FPE at 50 yrds.
It over maxed the power plant for the sole purpose of being the only one. Most mid size game you'd use the caliber for are not 100 ft away. Stick with a 135 in .25 cal or go PCP is my thought.

I'm just wondering why Hatsan didn't have the new QE break barrels (95, 135). The .30 came out of nowhere.

I built a potato gun with 5ft long by 2 inch barrel and 18in by 6 inch diameter combustion chamber. It had power. It could launch a potato out of sight- your eyes could not follow until in the sky then would disappear. Where am I going with this and how does it relate to .30 cal break barrel you might ask? I wouldn't want to hunt with it.

Not disagreeing with that. I bet even most of us use more a lot ammo for fun, than for hunting.
Even 30 cal pellets are cheap, compared to PB ammo. 11 cents each for the JSBs on PA, if you buy 9 tins and get 3 for free you are down to 8.5 cents. Even 11 cents a pop is still 2 cents cheaper than the cheapest .22lr on cheaperthandirt. I think tearing up some water jugs at the range with this thing would be a heck of a lot of fun.

Hi
I saw the 30 cal at shot show
It was a little heavy but I guess it would have to be for the recoil.
Was told it had a recoil like the 135
Hope this helps

Played with this gun at SHOT. Seemed a little heavier than a standard 135, maybe adjustable cheek piece accounts for that. They are claiming 550fps and said it was a under 35 yard hunting gun. Its a vortex that they have beefed up a little (more pressure). I am in agreement that i hope they release a lighter 30 cal pellet for it. I love the 25 cal in big magnum springers, but in my humble opinion this might be pushing the platform a bit too much. I will get one and try it out....what the *(&^...why not.

Hatsan's marketing people are smart. They know some people belong to the "bigger is better " group and will buy a .30 cal springer ( how about a .50 cal ? ) just because of the caliber and don't think about or care how much effort it will be to cockthe gun. Look at the 125/135s. Over powered, but Hatsan knows some people -especially Americans- will buy a product if it looks "cool" and shoots a zillion fps. Accuracy ? I had a 125 for awhile and accurate it wasn't. By accurate I mean under an inch c-t-c at 30 yds. No doubt some people have had ( or say they have) a different experience.

For the guy in a wooded area for shooting in the 35 yard range, this looks like a true power house. It looks like it hits very, very hard.

It hits with same energy as the .25 caliber. That was my point, same energy and very short range makes for an unneeded beast that might play a role in shooting treed racoon. But a 135 in .25 would do that
and
give you some range.

I can see the advantage of the .30 caliber strictly for hunting. I know the .25 has a bit more range but 35 yards in the woods is a long ways. I have a H-135 in .22 and really can't see myself stretching beyond 35 yards in a hunting situation. I'm trying to remember shooting a squirrel or rabbit past 30 yards with a .22 rimfire? I may have but it wasn't very often so I think the bigger hole, cleaner kill at reasonable hunting ranges gives the .30 an advantage over the .22 and .25. The only problem I would have with this gun in the woods is the size and weight. I don't think I would put a scope on it and would opt for some kind of dot sight to keep the weight down.

I velocity isnt really much of an issue to me, if rumor has it Hatsans .30 cal pellet will be around 36gr @550fps. 90@
% of the game I shoot at is under 30 yards. I have many Hatsan vortex's my newest is the 87qe and have no problems accuratly shooting to at least 35 yards using Jsb 33.95 mk2 pellets. They have way more then enough penetration on the raccoons taken this fall. I have not chonied it but guess its in the 500-525 fps range. So, there is no question that the Hatsan 135 in .30 shooting a 36 grain pellet, offers more then enough power (It's not meant to be a 50 yard rifle). I would buy one, since it fits my niche. The only thing that would deter me is if they use a even more pressurized piston, then the current one. Recoil, may be just to much to shoot accurately. If, it can be made accurate, great. I'm in.

I would like for them to sell .30cal barrels only. I would put one or two on my Hatsan's I use with just open sights. Close range hammer.

Hey Guys,
Don't get me wrong, I love my Hatsan 135 in .25 caliber
It's great to shoot now & then or to look at
.
The 19.91 grain, H&N .25 caliber pellet is the lightest I've found & shoot well, but IMHO they are bit heavy for the gun. My gun is getting 750 fps, and has been slightly de-tuned for a very smooth shot cycle, but I would definitely recommend the lighter .22 caliber
only
I hate to be a
naysayer
, but the new .30 caliber Hatsan 135 Carnivore is ridicules
. For those who plan on buying one, you'll have plenty of time to look at it vs. use it.

But Kirk, not that long ago didn't you strongly advocate the 500ish fps .25 carbines like the Lightning?
I have to agree, it's most versatile in .22. .25 can still be a do-all but not as flat shooting or versatile... but I want to try one in .30 cal. I want this rifle so badly, you have no idea! I don't even care if it's a 25 yard gun at best. If I wanted a gun to do what Baxter does, I'd get a pcp. This gun is something special and different and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
