I like my 135 .25 cal springer best of all Hatsan's with my Vortex Striker 1000 .22 2nd. I had the 125 Vortex but I prefer the springer more in that platform.
Sure you can tune a spring to be a smooth as a Vortex but if you don't already have a nice secure piston press the Vortex is much easier to get into. The gas rams are compressed fraction of an inch in the piston opposed to several inches of coiled spring still under tension. You should have a spring piston very secured when depressing/pressing it. A gas ram you just need enough security as not to scratch the gun. I just cobb up something temporary with scrap wood and wood clamp if needing to open up the piston. Spring pistons should have a center of gun support and all round well built press. You'd be storing it between uses.
