Title: Sheridan C- whatever it is
Post by: tomykay12 on September 07, 2012, 02:37:34 PM
Could someone please shed some light on the Sheridan C series differences? Mine just says C-series with a 6 digit serial # 441xxx, so I don't know what it is.  What about the C9, CB9, C9a?? Different vintage? Are parts interchangeable? A definitive answer would be much appreciated. Thanx, tk

First and foremost, my reply is in no way definitive but I think I understand the answer to your question. All of the c series rifle are just variations of the bluestreak. I believe the variations are based upon the different companies  that produced them; Sheridan, Benjamin, Crosman and now Benjamin Crosman. On most newer models the parts are interchangeable amongst the crosman branded models. On older models though I do not believe the parts are simply plug and play exchangeable.

Just a guess, but if it's marked Sheridan Racine,Wis(right side of reciever) with a serial# starting with a 4(left side under plastic hand/pumper guard) I would say it's a 1980's gun, you didn't say if it is silver or blued? The rest is as Brandon say's, they change as the company is bought an sold(Crosman owns it now). To rebuild it you would need the older kit that comes with a long tool to remove the parts.
P.S. Remember to keep a pump or two in it for storage.

Where is your safety located and what type is it?  That's another good indicator of model/era.

There's a rocker type, a hold down type, a push/pull mounted at the back of the action, and the current triggerguard button.

Mine is a Racine model.  Not as collectible as some but I love it!  Refinished the stock but the rest is original.  Smoother pumping than my current era 392.  I hope you enjoy yours!

From the photo I would guess that your rifle is marked Benjamin/Sheridan, Racine WI.... If that is the case your rifle could be more 'Collectable'  Than you think.... If I am correct your rifle is a transition model that was only made for a couple of years... It is identified by the sheet metal trigger guard, and push/pull safety.. It has a sheet metal trigger system similar to earlier guns but I think it has a cartridge type valve. From what I remember I am thinking that these guns responded well to Steroid Mods... As far as the Original Posting, Earlier Benjamins and Sheridans (pre 90?) do not share hardly any parts with current Crosman produced guns... The 'C' series of Sheridan rifles are regarded as some of the best pump guns ever made.... The biggest differences in these guns is they have a soldered in valve body and have a simple sheet metal trigger as apposed to current box trigger (IMO much safer)...  Photo is my 1980's 'C' Silverstreak.... Sorry for the omission; mine is a rocker saftey "blue" version.  Just says Sheridan products, Racine, Wis.  with previously mentioned serial # 441xxx. Sorry no pic; it is apart now for stock refinish and barrel/tube painting. I guessed 80's as well. thanx, tk
Title: Rocker Blue Streak is CB

C is Silver. CB is Blue. Racine made 80's vintahe. Rear sight will pop barrel loose from tube in the long run. Get it off and stretrch it or get it off and throw it away and get the Williams peep. All the 80's vintage Rockers were predrilled so all you need is the Williams peep and your good to go.

Thankyou, guess I have a CB9. Already did the sight thing and yep, predrilled. Think I figgered out C9a is later Sheridans built by Crosman. tk
Title: CB9 is transitional not Rocker Safety

400,000 series Rockers are a Late 80's CB. The CB9 has push pull safety, not a Rocker.

I have seen that; further added to my confoosion because the serial #'s stop short of my 441xxx. I am piecing this together bit by bit and now know the CB9 has a push-pull saftey, thankyou Tim. Late 80's rockers like mine are CB's. Assuming CB9 came after CB, and C9a is current model produced by Crosman. Pretty complicated for a toy gun, lol, tk

If I'm not mistaken it was like this;
CB was all the rockers, thumbers etc.
CB9 was early transitional packed in lead.
CB9PA was late transitional. Slip in valve. Both transitionals used the same trigger, bolt and hammer package with [push pull safty
CB9A is what they have now but that has ghone from Walnut to Sycamore?. Slip in valve and Safety on the gaurd.
Silver streaks drop the B fro model designation.
To confuse the actions were never marked with the B as that designated balck and whehn the markings were stamped the Guns could still be a black or chromed gun. Just like an E or H pistol is stamped before it was chromed or painted/blacked and only chrome guns are actually E/H's and all else is EB/HB cause it is painted or blacked somehow.
C/E/H means silver.
Now you know TOO MUCH!

THANKYOU!!! I am now constantly looking over my shoulder to see if I am being followed.... I didn't know of the PA designation. Thanx for setting me straight on this; if there is a definitive source regarding these pumpers, Mac1 must be it. tk
