First time air rifle owner

Hello All!
I just purchased a new Crosman G1 and I have been reading that I should clean the gun. What should I use and what is the best way to do it? I've owned long guns and rifles for 30 years but this air gun world is all new to me and I don't want to screw it up.
Thanks for your help!

In general, cleaners and solvents used on powder burners are not appropriate for airguns. Airgun barrels are more delicate, too, so no wire brushes.
For barrel cleaning, a pull through system is best. I use a Crown Saver. On a new barrel, I like to wet a patch or strip of an old t-shirt with a little Goo Gone and pull it through. If it looks pretty dirty I will pull another. Follow with dry patches till they come out clean. As an option, you can pull a patch with a couple drops of gun oil followed by another dry patch or two to finish. You won't need to clean the barrel again unless you see a change in accuracy.

I'm new to airguns myself, I read that with airguns the cleaning patches is all you should need with googone(sp). Wish I would have read these forums before i had my cousin clean mine, he ran a bore brush down my barrel and lubed it with remoil. I fired it the next day it sounded like a real rifle shot due to detonation i think.
