Paul68,I actually did read those 5 or so pages. Excellent reading...A goal to me is typically an unachievable objective that gives a focus on getting close or plainly improving to its limit. I do know there is real science behind this. I am not so confident that Crossman has put some bells and whistles in this engine to max it out.To keep this on subject, Hatsan AG's have extremely heavy pistons. As we all know piston weight (mass) can increase combustion chamber pressures. Furthermore, there is a way to get more volume in the combustion chamber. The piston can be turned down at the seal to reduce the actual length of the piston. There's room on the piston and there's room in the combustion chamber. The Gas ram is already pre-loaded, so a decrease in length of the piston should not affect travel or stop. Hay man,I am not a stupid kid here with a new idea of breaking sound barriers. I just want some positive ideas and or comments on achieving much higher fps out of our benji's. No matter what, I am going to test something out. I'll definitely learn something the hard way, just don't say "I told you so". I'll also post what I have done even if it was a failure or success. So give me a break and hit me with some of your ideas on what I might try to increase the fps.
Bryan, I hear you loud and clear. You are absolutely correct and so is Paul68. But what would be the fun of AG's if the tinkering wasn't going on. So for this weekend, I will attempt the increased weight of the piston and post. If something good comes out of it, then good. If not, Paul68 can tell me I told you so.You mentioned about the accuracy being affected with the increased piston weight and fps. I have an idea on how to tame that if that comes up. The only thing I want to do here is increase the fps first (safely), then work on accuracy. It's a project, Its fun , and I hate being told something won't work. It just doesn't sound like anyone reading this post is interested in this project. I honestly don't know why. It's not you gun that's potentially going to get messed up. Let's put it this way, I have not seen a historical post yet that someone tried increasing the fps on the trail np .22 hardwood. Others yes, but trail no. Let's try this, how can the NPSS spit out the same fps as the np. Very similar power plants and the NPSS has a shorter stroke (less volume metric compression chamber). And another one, the trail np fps values that are posted are all over the place. From 680fps to 750fps. Ask yourself , why is this. This can be done.
