I am building a .25 caliber XL from spare parts and some new parts from Crosman. The new barrel I purchased came this week. When I installed the barrel I noticed what seems like a good amount of barrel droop. The barrel itself looks straight though. Looking at the paper work in states not for models made after 2013. The compression tube I have I believe is newer than that. Does anyone know what Crosman has changed on the XL rifles? I guess I need to call them this week.

In 2013 Crosman made a significant change in barrel lockup. Older guns used a wedge shaped piece in the compression tube for the alive jam to catch. From 2013 on they use a metal cross pin in the compression tube. Barrels for the two styles do not interchange readily.
Even if the barrel is correct for the compression tube droop is pretty common - even with a straight barrel. If the barrel mounts and appears to be correct when latched, check for breech leaks when firing. If the breech doesn't leak that may be as good as it gets.
If there's still a problem you can bend the barrel, file it, or get an adjustable scope mount.

The compression tube I have does have the metal cross pin. I will have to see if they can exchange this barrel. The person that took my order never asked about the age of the gun..

I just spoke to Crosman regarding this same issue on my Trail. I have ordered two .22 barrels for this gun (wanted to convert from .177). Correct barrel for my gun, just the breach face was cut at the wrong angle on both. I corrected both on my belt sander, to find out that they both also had "bad" bores (one super loose, one had three tight spots in it). Since I corrected the droop issue, I cannot return the barrels (I've had them well over 30 days anyway, which according to the customer service rep is the warranty period for parts like this). My point: if it locks up and you're able to shoot it, see if it is capable of good groups. If it groups ok, I'd regrind the breech face and call it good. If it doesn't shoot properly, send that junk back for another. I just ordered a third .22 barrel from them, and if it isn't right, I'll keep returning them until either they run out of inventory or I get a good one. Who knows, maybe if we run through enough of their inventory this way Crosman will start taking their QC a little more seriously? Best of luck with your build!

I looked over the barrel from my XL 1100 and there is a big difference at the breech face. Called Crosman today and now have the correct barrel ordered. Wasn't real happy with the customer service though. When asked why they don't mention the change when someone is ordering parts the reply was " we just send what the customer orders". Would be nice if they would update the parts list they have online. Now I just hope the new barrel locks up with the spare compression tubes I have. I can't see any difference between the spares and the one from my 1100.
