Quote from: bmoney on May 07, 2016, 10:17:34 PMThanks a bunch for that info. What thread locker did you use? I was thinking a dab of clear nail polish since the threads on the baffles are plastic. You're welcome. On the Trail it's all metal so I use loctite 242 or equivalent. I'm not sure for the plastic threads. The first thing that comes to mind out of what I have on hand is a tube of plumbing thread sealer. It's a white, sticky paste that is probably safe for plastic and is pretty tacky. I don't think it ever really sets up but I'm pretty sure it's sticky enough to keep a shroud from loosening accidentally. My Trail had something similar from the factory as a thread locker on the shroud cap. There was a big glob in the path of the bore when I first looked at the gun! [edit] Maybe teflon tape would work. A couple of wraps could give the extra stiction in the threads it needs to not loosen in use.

I just keep mine hand tight like moblehomer said. I did put a little bit of vibratite stuff on mine to keep it from coming loose. Its still easy to remove by hand for when I want to remove it for barrel cleaning.

Something non permanent but will hold up to cocking and the firing cycle. Thanks for all the info, you guys are awesome.
Just bump it tight like I said, mine doesnt walk or need anything to keep it tightYour money I guess . . . . . There was no thread lock on mine since new,Im shooting dimes at 20yd with the shroud cranked down tightI also bored out my plastic brake to 5/16",no chance of clipping now for sureI dunno,Im still learning this one too

I think I am going to apply the vibratite, cinch it down, re zero with crossman premiers and call it good. Good call on drilling out the plastic baffles a little.
Plan on taping(tape) one off this weekend and try for more suppression effectTape it off fully and remove tape till the DB rises working both ends separately.Shooting steady 95-98db currently on SLP meter phone app.

So I got the vibratite and it is exactly what I needed. I applied it to the threads on the end of the barrel and let it sit for an hour then threaded the shroud/baffles back on. It locked my shroud down really good. The pellets were all over the place so I slowly backed it off (with channel locks with a rag wrapped around the muzzle) until I found its sweet spot again. It is seems to be back to dime sized groups at 15 yards and that shroud is NOT backing off the threads now. This is really good stuff.

I already have Vibra-Tite, I'll do what you did--tighten it down all the way then back it off a bit. Thanks for the post Brian.Ed
