It's that 100 yards that makes it difficult. I once considered myself a dedicated springer shooter but found the frustration of inconsistency drove me to the cheapest PCP combo I've ever seen. Even less than my AoA special HW95. Using a discount code from Teds Holdover I managed to get the form follows function, Benjamin Maximus combo in .22 delivered for $300.21. I was somewhat worried about the effort involved in pumping but found it's much, much easier than I expected. I doubt I'll buy another airgun.

I know, I know. Silly of me to say that. The .22 Maximus is just about the perfect gun for my needs. Pumping the Disco/Synco series is easy being they are 2k psi max. 50 yards is about all I can shoot at least in the summer time. The woods start 30 yards from my house. For many airguns the pellet drops off so much after 50 yards and the range becomes difficult to judge the farther away your target is. I'm sure if I sighted it in for 100 yards I might be impressed but I'd never take a shot at pests past 50 unless I knew exactly how far away they were and knew the pellet had enough energy to make a quick kill. Besides, I'm fortunate enough to shoot PBs in my yard. Crow at 75 yards in the woods? Mr. 22 Hornet greets them. Another real plus for the .22 Synco is Walmart sells a tin of 14.3 HP pellets for $6.47. That's about as cheap shooting as you can get. Accuracy? Not quite up to my CZ452 but better than most off the shelf 10/22s out there at 50 yards. So, yeah. I'm satisfied. I have the airgun I enjoy, can afford and can pump easily. But it is fun to window shop.
