Rem Summit (B-19) Tuning Question

I finished building my spring compressor last night and am ready to start my tear down. I'm using CDT's "Super Tune a B-19" article as a guide and in it, one of the initial steps is to remove the trigger housing and later has instructions for complete trigger dis-assembly, which I don't plan to do. I replaced my trigger with the GRT-III earlier on and am pleased with it's operation and smoothness.
Do you need to remove the trigger housing to be able to remove the spring assembly? It looks to me like you do, but I'm just not sure.

Yes, the retaining block will have to be removed so the trigger can move back then out. Use the press to relieve the spring pressure, remove the retaining screw that holds the trigger and block. Then adjust the compressor and remove the pin that is through the retaining block and tube. When the block is back far enough the trigger should just slide back and out. Just remember when reinstalling the catch sear in front of the trigger go's inside. Search for info and you'll find some more info and pics.

Gregg, to expand a bit on what JR said, if you have your spring compressor adjusted just right, the cross pin will slide out pretty easily. If your adjustment is off a bit you will have to place a punch against it and tap it out. The retaining bolt at the rear of the trigger assembly is screwed in also and must be removed.
Take a couple of close up pics of the trigger block before disassembly to show how the sear goes.
Pay close attention on disassembly the precise sequence of removal for the rear spring block and the trigger assembly. You may have to play a bit when you put it together to get the sequence but if it came apart it will go together, somebody did it once.

Thx guys......one more question
I have everything apart, cleaned, polished and ready to lube and put it back together.
When I took the piston seal off it popped off in my hand before I could see how it came off. I have a new seal from Crosman, but need to know which way it goes back on.
It's beveled inside and the hole on one side is larger than the other side. It seems like it should go back on with the larger hole against the piston. Is that right?

Large side out. I heated mine with a heat gun SLIGHTLY and lubed with Crosman silicone oil. Some use a hair drier or hot water. Heat it til it is just pliable, then work it on.

Also, if you have something very thin, I used a piece of feed corn bag (thin and strong). Cut a piece big enough to cover the slots in the compression tube and long enough. Put it between the seal and the tube to prevent cutting the seal. Then pull the shim out.
