Sam Yang 909S ammo question

I ordered some hornady round balls from Midway. I also saw some speer round balls the same size (.457). Have anyone used both? If so, were there a performance difference in the two?

I'm thinking a 909s might be my next air gun. So I'm following these threads. Let us know your findings….

I had to order some high scope rings, so I haven't had a chance to zero it with the hornady round balls yet. No real plans to hunt in the near future so most of my shooting with this will be for fun; hence, I probably won't be getting any high end ammo any time soon. Maybe someone who has used this gun for hunting can chime in.

The hornady balls shooting great; ordered some Speer just to see if they shoot as well or not.

I zeroed the scope at 30 yards and 6 shots fit into a quarter size group. I went to my place to shoot long distance but just shot cans at 55 and 80 yards. I didn't shoot any paper besides zeroing the scope. I consistently hit coke cans at both these distances.

Well, I got the Speer RBs and they seem to shoot as well as the Hornady balls.

the 457 340 gr lee molded bullets shoot great out of mine, out to 85 yards as far as i tested them, also before it was tuned, the 150 gr epp ,s were very accurate,so far most everything even 452 225 gr cast pure lead works good, as manny always says, got to love a 909 .

That's good to know. I'm still getting my start-up equipment to do some casting and I will probably get a mold to do RBs and EEP/UG bullets for my 909S. I'm starting out with baby steps though.

Shooting is not about theory, it's about practice.

I'll have to dig out some pics of some range time with my 909
. Gotta say tho, My trigger was horrible till Mr. Piatt worked it out, but after that I was able to pull off around inch groups at 30 yards open sights with Hornady balls.
