For those of you that don't know, Walter has inserted a .25 cal liner inside the .45 cal barrel with an insert to the loading tray and a fitting to hold the barrel at the muzzle.... This allows the gun to be changed back to .45 cal by simply removing the smaller caliber insert.... Clever idea, and should have minimal POI change....Bob
Thanks for the clarification Bob Cool project Walter, looks like you got a nice shot string going! Can you post some pics of your set up?I like the idea of a big bore that you can switch down to .25 and still get a good shot count Have you done any accuracy testing with it yet?Joseph
Gun is shooting quite accurately so far. No time to target it properly but will asap.Pics..... need to load some into photobucket......Very pleased to have a rifle that shoots the Benji domes so well. Renews my faith in Crosman pellets :-)A Dragon 50 if single shot like the Ultra would be a fine gun to put a liner in. It would do well at 30cal i bet! That is next adventure with this 45 is to fit a 30cal liner to it.
Won't that damage your 45 cal barrel...inserting another barrel in and out of it?
Initial testing was getting 620fps on low power (first hammer notch) Made a filler to channel more of the air pulse to the pellet and got these numbers. Benji domes fill to 3000psi down to approx 1200psi 900 917 938 945 970 991 1003 1019 1031 1041 1065 1078 1091 1097 1104 1094 1092 1080 1073 1058 1043 1028 1013 991 24 powerful shots with 16 shots from 1019 to 1104 to 1013 Pulled the liner and refilled to 3000 143 grain round ball on high 2nd notch 756 774 794 813 819 820 809 793 774 748 Filled to 150bar and shot 2 balls 286 grains went 615fps for 241fpe This should work pretty fair as a dual caliber, field ready rifle Walter....
