How far are the shots? The .177 would be my pick.
I would look into a Marauder .25 and detune it down to 25 FPE
I second the suggestion of the .25 tuned down since the better Green Mountain barrel is included as well as rotary mag and shroud and great trigger. Lots of reasons to choose it. You will have a louder noise from pellet impact on the squirrel than the report from the Mrod.
Hello all,I've got a varmit problem (squirrels stripping fruit trees), and neighbors close by, so my Benjamin 392 is a tad too loud. For safety reasons, I'm very limited in shot selections (down to the ground from 2nd story windows, or up in the trees from a ground floor window) and time of day, but more than anything else it's the noise. So, I've been looking at the Marauder Gen 2, and though I'm drawn to the 22, the 177 is probably more sensible, since it's marginally quieter, permits more shots on a fill, and--I assume--just as accurate. Do you guys think the 177 is a reasonable choice? The Gen 2s are quieter, I gather, but was still thinking of adding a brake in the future. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Lots of information, and I appreciate it. I've done a little research on the site as well, so it looks like a .25 tuned to 25 fpe, coupled with an ssg and--maybe--an lcd of some sort could keep the 25 very quiet.

It would be extremely quiet, an other plus for going .25 is that if down the line things change and you need/want more power the .25 is easily powered back up to the 50 fpe range and more,....is good to have options a low powered .25 shooting hollowpoints like the predators and H&N Baracuda Hunter will have little problems of overpenetration, instead most if not all the energy will be transfered to the critter making marginal shots still very effective, because remember, we are not all world class snipers and things don't always go exactly how we plan
