Title: Same gun list???
Post by: mav72 on June 16, 2011, 01:15:26 AM
I've seen a couple of the clone lists that are out there but I also know manufacturers and importers try to sell you the same action of a gun with a different stock attached and call it a different name...

Has a list ever been comprised that lists these same action guns under certain manufacturers or importers?

Usually I can figure it out but some manufacturers such as the Gamos, stump me because their actions all look the same to me.... The reason I ask is that I'd hate to buy the same gun twice unless I really like it..

Thanks...

Thanks but I was looking for something on the lines of guns with the same actions sold by the same company...

Crosman Pantom and Quest - same action

Stoeger X10 and X20 - same action

Then later we could compare them with the clones.

Sometimes on these clone lists I really don't know which was the original and which was the clone. Sometimes there are repeats with other guns listed and I don't know if it was an upgraded version of the gun that was a clone of something else...

I wish I knew more about these guns so I could fix these lists once and for all... LOL

Most of your Crosman and Gamo 1000 fps guns share the same power plants. Differences bein in mounting hole locations on forstock. Most all Crosman 1000 fps springers and some gas ram models can interchange stocks. Crosman production air guns only.

Same goes for Gamo. Now with Stoeger X-20 models they are unique to Stoeger only. These things you learn by buying hundreds of air guns and playing with them...:)

Thanks.. Yea, ^^^ that's the type of information I was looking for... The air guns that I mentioned are the only ones that I know about... I was trying to look into Gamo and it confuses me with their Silent, Bone, Cats, and Socoms.... Any more detailed info on those...? So is an Optimus the same as a quest?

I'm happy that some Companies don't try to confuse you on what action you are getting with a particular stock...

Thanks again...

I guess the real question is are you going to swap stocks or something?  I mean a lot of those Gamo rifles you can swap stocks around by just buying one and removing the screws. :)  Like Gene says, a lot of them internally are identical.  One of my friends owns some sort of Gamo (don't remember the model) and internally it seemed identical to my Whisper. The stocks will swap and the way you take it apart is exactly the same.

I'm also wondering what has the same action but just costs more because of the stock... I might want to get a Gamo or some other brand one day and I want to know if I'm paying too much for the same thing...

As a rule most all Gamo's these days are way over priced for what you get. Most all have same exact power plants but with different barrel configueration and stocks.  Marketing runs Gamo now.

Like Gene said, some of the models are just marketing models! They have no real difference except outside appearance and the name on them!  I have a three year old Whisper though that I wouldn't part with for the world. :)  It was the first adult air gun I bought. I found the GTA forum, found the GRT trigger and the rest has been a BLAST. :D

Yep, I agree Marketing does run Gamo. I got that impression when researching thier guns... Out of all the companies out there they are the hardest for me to figure out the differences between their guns...

How would you suggest an inexperienced person go about deciding which guns are actually the same from a particular company with different stocks? Would you look at the pics of all the guns with the same caliber and FPS and compare actions to see if they look the same?

In general, I'm just trying to get the most out of my airgun budget... Reducing the product lines of airgun companies to a few key guns is probably what I'm trying to do...

My suggestion would be just post the question here!  Within a matter of seconds someone will usually pipe up with the answer.  :)

If you want an affordable pellet rifle under $150.00, take a look at the Crosman line of springers and the Stoeger X-20. These shooters are worth every penny you pay fer them. And you get all metal barrels and triggers...:) Walmart usually has a couple of the Crosman's for around $100.00
