I would like to start this on November 1st and the challenge will end Dec 1st. I think for now lets do any springer any sight. This is the most common gun on the forum. If we get more interest we can expand. The first challenge will be 10 pellets and 10 ketchup packets at 30yds offhand. (If you shoot at a indoor range cut the back of the packet and empty it before you tape it to the target) This should be a hard challenge. There will be a different challenge in December. We will have a variety of shooting positions but nothing everyone cannot do. With different challenges we will all get out of our comfort zones and experience other kinds of shooting. Im thinking 2 offhand, 2 seated, and 2 standing or kneeling supported events. The scoring system will be a percentage of the best shooterExample Shooter A 8/10 hits 100%shooter B 7/10hits 87.5%shooter c 2/10 hits 25%Your scores will be a running average meaning the next event is more important than the last.1st month 75%2nd month 100% (your average will be 87.5%) 75+100=175/2=87.53rd month 50% (you average 68.75) 87.5+50=137.5/2=68.75This way some one cannot get so far ahead that they are sure to win. Keeps it interesting. It would be nice to have some information on a couple of shooters each month. Maybe a couple of pics of you with your gun and some information about your shooting history. Let us get to know more about each other. By the end of the event we could include everyone.we will run this until April and declare a Summer Champion.

The owner of the indoor range will throw me out if I start splattering ketchup in his range. I would suggest:1) Opening the competition to all air guns, PCP, pump, Co2 and springers.2) Have two man teams.. Having teammates reminding each other to submit targets/scores on time should help keep the competition going. This was suggested by a member a couple of weeks ago. I want Joe P.!!!3) It wood be hard for me to commit to going to the indoor range (35 - 40 miles away)weekly especially when it starts snowing. Bi or tri weekly would make it easier.I want sfttailrdr46, so we can beat Joe P. LOL

Quote from: mafatone on October 21, 2014, 02:27:49 AMWell I'm out because I give out ketchup and duck sauce packets to the kids for Halloween. LOL True storyDennis!!!My kids would've egged up your house for that!!!!It is funny tho!!! Hey Guys you gotta see the look on the kids faces at first. The 3-5 year olds look up at their parents for help as if to say "Hey What's This?" It's Hysterical. Then we let them dig into a huge bowl of candy that we have, with both hands. My wife says we should upgrade this year to used coffee filters. LOLAnd what is this "offhand" thingy you speak of Dennis?

Are we going to make this a shooting contest or a whining event Whats worse about it is the whiners are going to kick my butt at my game!
Don!!!! A ginzo ratting out another ginzo??? I think it's time for a visit from Rocko and Moose!!!
NECCO wafers off hand.Too, COSTCO has a great deal on animal crackers.A bonus....The residue attracks turkeys, mice, etc.
IMHO reasons for air rifle bench rest instead of unusual targets like ketchup packets include:- 25 yards/meters friendly- Can be shot indoors or out- Most people can do it in a back yard, at a nearby indoor range, or an outdoor range- Most of the grunt work associated with creating something from scratch is eliminated - Rules and classes exist (except for springers but we can just go ahead and add them as a class). See usairriflebenchrest.com/ for rules- It can be year round friendly for many because of the indoor capability.- Targets can be downloaded (see phoenixairgun.net/Phoenix_Benchrest/Targets.html for 25a.pdf and 25b.pdf)- The competition framework has been field tested and field proven. - Can be postal or in person match oriented.- It's not offhand (which bothers me but I guess I'm one of three people on line that really enjoys the offhand shooting position) so it is pretty friendly to all in regards to physical capabilities- Results from regular USAR clubs are posted so we can see how we all compare to others- Since it is not a sanctioned USARB thing equipment experimentation (that is rifles, rests, benches, wind flags, etc.) need not be frowned upon- Local groups that form around this can join the USARB if they wish.- Best (or worst) of all since it would not be a USAR sanctioned thing, personal creativity will not be stymied and it cannot be controlled or influenced for the benefit of a few at the expense of the majority.
I have been thinking that we springer guys need to start a fun competition. It will go in the Shooting Match Gate. Since we are shooters I know that everyone can make it to a range at least once a month. Lets come up with a monthly challenge. Im a offhand shooter but not sure that all springer guy shoot off hand. I really need input from people that want to participate. Here is what I have in mind1- Challenge is open for one month2- We will be scored on a percentage of the best shooter. 3- Will run for several months (open to suggestions) and then restart4- Three classes Scope, Open Sight and Any restMy idea for the first challenge is to tape 10 ketchup packets to a target and shoot offhand at 30yds. This will be a ongoing challenge that changes from month to month. (May have a completely different challenge for each class)Any ideas.
Gator!!!! Offhand? Invite the dopey guinea and he'll be buying beers all day long!!!
