eBay Gun "Breakers"
Hoosier Daddy:
Being an vintage AG fan and always in the market, I see a practice on eBay of a gun for sale minus the stock and the same seller listing the stock on another auction. Not always a bad thing, that is how I got my replacement stock for my 392P.
Over on the motorcycle forums, we call those guys "Breakers". The individual parts are worth more than the motorcycle as a whole so they "Break" them up and part them out.
But with the current value of complete vintage ariguns I just don't get it. I mean Crosman, Daisy, and Benjamins will easily fetch 3-4 times what they sold for new... and Sheridans going north of $300.
I know a guy who owns a antique store and when I asked if he tried listing a couple Red Riders on eBay and he say's he can't sell complete guns there, even BB guns. I have asked other sellers on eBay when I see one I would bid on if the two were combined and been told the same thing, can't... Yet I see complete AirGuns sold there all the time!?
Are there different flavors of eBay accounts where some are allowed to sell complete and others aren't?
Do these people really think breaking up a nice vintage gun will get them more money?
Or does it really?
Just seems a shame to part out a nice looking old gun that has somehow managed to stay complete and in good shape for 50 years or more.

some sellers that deal in air guns are allowed to sell whole rifles.there seems to be a set amount allowed to sell them...
Hoosier Daddy:
So you think me, the average Joe, could not sell a complete airgun?

Not on eBay. Anyone reports it and the listing is pulled. Only certain sellers are allowed.

And that's why I really don't bu/sell on eBay unless I have to..
I don't like double standards..
