Walmart Ruger pistol

Been on a pistol spree lately and yesterday I fell for the ruger mark 1 at walmart, thought i'd put my thoughts down about it to either convince someone to buy or .. More than likely not. All would depend on what you want, these WOULD make a good truck or tackle box pistol. They are not gameslayers nor target pistols. My first impression was "Big", it's over 18" long with the very much required detachable cocking aid/muzzlebreak. It's wide too, but because the majority of the gun is heavy duty plastic its not at all heavy, hold and points pretty good. Cocking is easy too, so long as the plastic cocking device is installed on the plastic barrel(steel barrel liner). The firing cycle isn't bad, its fast and solid feeling,, pleny though to upset a scope, meaning springer approved optics only.. The receiver is grooved but with no way of using a stop pin, I can only see a bkl or similar mount holding long term. My open sights won't

Sorry. Was saying that a scopes going to be tough to mount securely. The trigger pull is long and a bit hard, firing cycles not bad and accuracy was decent,, 5 shots in a quarter to fifty cent piece was no problem but power is very low at apprx 300fps using 10.5cpum. 7.9 got me 350. All in all a neat gun, kinda big and kinda weak,, just a fun gun really and one i'll put to good use. J

300 fps? That's way lower than what mine is shooting. I'd say mine is pretty much a powerhouse for it being a springer, and it's taken quite a few fox squirrels and ground squirrels within 15 yards. Yeah, I'm pretty happy with mine. Shooting over 20 yrds with quarter size groups on a foam rest, scoped. She likes the Destroyers. My scope hasn't moved, even how it's mounted. The back mount hasn't touched the plastic yet, and it's exactly where I mounted it. I'll get see-thru mounts someday and a smaller scope, but this works for now. I also mounted a CenterPoint laser on the barrels plastic (lol) after some cutting of the cock-assist - It's never moved either. I also removed the safety mechanism. Here's some pics. Forgive the image quality (I dropped my camera in river last year, and my phone's camera doesn't work anymore, so I used an old phone and memory card to take the pics).

P.S. At your quoted, "300 fps," you must have a broken spring or other damage to the gun. This thing is a monster for a spring pistol, in my opinion - Especially for a cheapo one. I know there's bigger & better springer pistols out there for over $200, but for this price of $68, I got lucky with a good one (knock on wood). I can't wait for the new Benjamin Trail NP pistol this year - I'm sure it'll blow this away for accuracy.

I'm waiting on that NP pistol as well airik, thanks for letting me know that my gun may not be typical, 300fps, even using those 10.5' seemed low. Good to know too that a scope mount holds with no stop pin,,wouldn't have thought that and glad to be proven wrong. Your pistol looks fantastic. J

i ordered one of those plastic ones that was all the rage,it showed up in pieces,it still turned on so i held it together to shoot 3 pellets threw it.only read 2 times 10.5gr were 551fps and 548 on second shot, but as i said it was a mess so i sent the piece of &^^& back, and 1 month later finally got a refund because of pay-pal,that is the best i can do for a reading for you,it is a lot more powerful than it was before i tuned it and stacked washer,s in the piston at the end of the spring it is a simple and easy airgun to work on.now i don't know if that crony was reading correctly because i had to literally hold piece's of it together to get it to work at all,not a easy task at all jeff.

Nice job airik!! I've been debating between the 2240,daisy 15xt or this ruger. The ruger and 2240 both would make good candidates for a bullpup mod. The 15xt is just priced right.

I have no clue but, over a few months ago, I posted a thread asking folks about a shoulder stock for this gun. I didn't get many responses. If you find the answer, hollar at me!
P.S. I hope that new Benjamin Trail NP pistol coming out this year has a shoulder stock accessory available.
