So long as I know there will not be any catastrophic injury to me or the rifle I'll give them some opportunity. Ive read good things about the EPP-UGs and are next on my list.
I recently bought a used 909 that has been "tuned" by Will Piatt. The barrels on the 909 are slightly larger in diameter than a regular .45. The 909 is .456-.457 and is slightly choked at the breech. Mr Piatt opens up the barrel at the breech to make loading easier. As far as Air Venturi, I would stay away from anything they sell. The round balls are flat on one side which undoubtedly affects accuracy. From my research, epp/ug shoot the best when sized to .454-.456 but these sizes are difficult to find unless you go for a rifle round which will be 350 grains and up. I bought an assortment of ammo to try out and see which shoots well. I bought some RB from hornady, some epp/ug from Tom Buchannan at ironmule @ wildblue.net. Tom is a great guy and had my bullets in 3-4 days, he was also kind enough to include a free sampler so I can try some of his other bullets. I tried to buy some ammo from Mr. Whyte whytelw @ comcast.net but he never answered my e-mails. I have not had a chance to shoot the rifle since the stock broke in transit so it's been repaired. As soon as I get it back, will try to post some results.
I picked up the AV RB because I was ordering something else as well; just wanted to get some lead down range. Ive got some EPP-UG sample coming (thanks Wpanzee!) and will be testing put 45Slim when I get a hold of them. With the 180gr round nose AV, 700fps, but have not had much time than 2 x 6 shot groups. I'm interested in Will's tune and wondered if Leroy is still doing that? Hoping to get some range time before sending off to get a feel and comparison. Half the fun for me is collecting data.

I've had my 909 about 4+ years now.. Can't beat the 166gr EP's, but next is red box with deer on label Hornady RB 143gr.. I had great accuracy from 200gr hp AV, and good groups from 230gr rn AV's too.. ALL others from AV gave only marginal accuracy, but at 20yd, or less was acceptable for tree stand.. Gonna try the 176 AV (EP Wannabe) next to see if they work.. Heard they perform well..
