Not really, it's designed for the butt to slide in the set of fingers and clamp down. The wooden Winchester stand works better for just the receiver without the stock.
If I am not using one of these to hold my receiver, it's either laying on a pad on my bench or in my spring compressor. I shoot from the black one (which I believe is also a Winchester branded) and the Predator rest. I prefer the Predator for stability. The black one is not very steady. Too many adjustments and wobbly.
Predator rest works great. Especially for under $50. You can rest a PCP in there and shoot but for springers, I would fold a towel and put it in the cradle. Then use it to rest my hand on and put the gun in my palm.
Excellent grouping. What distance?
