A transfer port in the 7/32" range is plenty for well over 100 FPE, and 1/4" is all that is used in a DAQ, which is 185 FPE on 3000 psi.... I thought I heard that the Cothran MRod valve had a 1/4" exhaust port, so one would assume he supplies a transfer port to go with it.... They aren't after all, rocket science.... Any barrel port larger than about 7/32" - 15/64" in a .300 cal should be oblong in order to not create potential loading issues, particularly with pellets.... The DAQ uses a round 1/4" hole, but then it is made for shooting bullets, which are longer and can be a little more tolerant of a large barrel port.... Bob
JoeI am not sure as its a WAR bottles setup with their short tube and no gauge block so just the valve and bottle block in the short tube of 11 3/4" total length for the tube with approx. 5" of open space between the valve nose and the tank block face in the tube.Travis may be able to give an exact volume for his tube with just a valve and tank block installed. I am not worth a toot at math but if you can figure 5" length by the 1 1/16" ID of the tube it would be a close approximation of the plenum volume. Photos of valve and adapters to follow shortlyMike
5" of tube with a 1.06" ID, works out to 72 cc.... In a regulated PCP running from a tank, I would say that is optimum for 72 FPE, but you could use it up to about twice that, by increasing the regulator setpoint pressure by about 10%.... If the gun isn't regulated, and the passages through the tank block are large enough, then the tank becomes part of the plenum, so basically that limit on FPE doesn't apply.... The caveat is that the holes through the tank block are large enough to keep the plenum at the same pressure as the tank during the shot.... and also the inlet side of the valve, of course....For larger calibers, the 1/4" exhaust port in the valve will become the limiting factor.... not a problem up to about .30 cal, but more restrictive as the caliber increases beyond that.... For example with a .357 (9mm) you want the ports to be about 7mm or 9/32" even for pellets or light bullets.... and even larger than that for the really heavy stuff.... This isn't to say that the PowerHouse valve won't deliver some impressive FPE numbers in .35 cal and up.... just that there is more performance possible if the ports were larger.... Bob
You should be able to get a LOT bigger hole in the tank mounting bushing.... Is it 5/8"-18 threads?....Be careful of the JDS MRod tank block.... only 2 mounting screws makes me cringe!....Bob
