Help with rebuild of the Vantage

Hello, I have a Vantage. I was getting bad groups in the morning then after 10-15 shots it would settle down. It was still smoking after what is 1000 plus shot thru it. Anyway I took it apart, my first time. The seal did not look bad but have another one coming from Crosman. I have polished the ends of the spring to where they are like glass. Also cleaned up the outside of the piston then cross hatched it will 600 grit paper. Also removed all sharp edges on all the stampings/holes. Polished the top hat and the bottom piece that the spring sits on. As I could not polish inside the piston where the top hat rubs, should I put a polished washer in there? I did polish a washer and it fits nice but don't know if the extra weight will throw something off. I'm planning on using Molly when I put it back together. Also do I need 'TAR" for the spring or just a light coat of Molly? The Molly I'm using is the powder type and I mixed it with a Molly auto grease. So it is heavy on the Molly. Last I was thinking of using JB Weld on the rear of the piston as buttons. Thought I could make three small "pockets" in the end of the piston then fill with the JB. After cured sand them down to a nice fit. Is that worth doing, as the piston seems lose to me but really nothing to compare to? Thanks for the help. I think this should do it will all my questions for awhile.
