Why are so many big bore PCPs tuned with a decreasing shot string?.... It is sooooooooo wasteful of air, and you end up with only 2-3 shots within 4%.... My DAQ was the same way, and by simply reducing the preload I went from 3 shots to 6, using half the air, and gave up only 3 fps on the fastest shot.... Plus, my 6th shot was faster than the 2nd one the way the gun came.... IMO it's shameful....Bob
Watching this thread with great interest to see how well the Recluse can be home tuned.
And I personally would have no problem with a big bore that "only" put out 120fpe and got 20 regulated shots.
I agree with you, and I think all things considered, for that use, a .30 cal at 80-100 FPE (900-950 fps with 45-50 gr. pellets).... which uses much less air than the same velocity in a .357.... may be just the ticket.... So did Tim @ Mac1 who just won the Extreme Bench Rest "Pro" 75 yard category and CambriaJohn who placed 2nd in the 75 yd. "Sportsman" category.... Most of my efforts this winter will be focused on building just such a gun, regulated at 2000 psi, using a 22CI tank, and I'm aiming for at least two 7-shot mags per fill.... hopefully more....Bob
