wow, thank you all so much, will take a while to digest and research, and I am already way past my bedtime :-)he is 15 years old, into reading books way too many, about 40-60 books a week (three to four brown paper shopping bags filled with books each week), there is such a thing as too much of a good thing... he just finished writing and self-published his first book. I did manage to do some research lunchtime at work.what about an R7 for him and an Air Arms TX200 for me?of course he will be able to shot "mine", the idea to start him on an easier to cock gun, yet with a good trigger, and when he gets better/stronger, he will get mine if he wants it. fortunately for us, I can budget about $1,000 for this venture, even if he does not like it, I still need a hobby for myself... janyone see anything wrong with my reasoning for R7 and TX200?thanks again, and goodnight,-avi
Two things about the tuned Chinese rifles from Mike:- No resale value (they're Chinese)- Might be too hard to cock for your son. Would he be able to pull down the barrel with 35-40 lbs. worth of force?
Thanks all,for now, I am going to take just one baby step, and get the R9/HW95, deal with PCP later on, as/if needed.-z
It takes a while before you one can appreciate the accuracy of a "high quality" (cost) airgun.
