I've used the same reasoning with my wife in the past
After all these years my wife finally understands that air guns are not just a hobby with me, they are my passion. Once she finally understood that she gave in, ran the white flag up the pole and unless I spend a really large amount of money she just looks the other way when it comes to my air gun purchases. On the rare occasion when she does start to give me some flap about an air gun purchase I now always give her the same answer. I tell her I'm 53 years old, I worked hard all my life, was forced to retire from my injuries and now that I'm retired and have to struggle with my bad back every day of my life I'm going to spend my remaining good years fully enjoying my air gun passion to it's fullest and if that means spending more money on guns and such then so be it. I always end my speech with the fact that she knows that she can spend money on anything she wants and I don't bother her so she should reciprocate with me. By the time I'm done with "the speech" she just stands there, looks at me and says "fine, enjoy your BB guns" and walks away
Just like your wife, myy wifes big thing was always that she just didn't understand why I needed so many different guns. When I first started collecting them I could always explain to her that I needed a different caliber, or a different kind of stock, or a less or more powerful power plant, but of course after awhile that argument just didn't cut it simply because I had so many guns. I finally just "fessed up" and tried to explaine to her how much I loved air rifles and that I was literally addicted to collecting them.
My wife still thinks I'm nuts but she finally "gets it". But, I still make it a point not to push my luck and I do try and pace myself when it comes to new purchases.
The fact that our wives have "permitted" us to buy so many air guns proves that deep down they really do understand how much we love the sport and I know for a fact that they would rather have us at home playing with our BB guns then out running around with the guys on a Friday night spending money on other things
And as for the Condor,, I hate to add fuel to the fire
but if you get one you're air gunning will never be the same, trust me
my condor is just freaking awesome, there aren't words to describe what an amazing hunting air rifle it is

If it was easy it wouldn't be hunting it would be shopping.
