Is the 34 with the shorter barrel and muzzle brake much harder in cocking effort than a standard 34?

I have a 34 MCP only. So I can not say if it is much different. I am not a large person and have had no trouble with either the stock spring or the Vortek PG2 I put in. I can tell you that the Vortek and some home de-burring and careful lube and assembly made a much nicer gun. I love it! Half inch groups from bench at 25 yards are pretty easy for me. As some other posters have said "Your mileage may vary". As much as I love the 34, the bug has bitten. I am looking at my next gun already! Lol!

Another here that only owns the MPC version.
I don't find the cocking effort to be bothersome, but that is purely subjective.
If you get the MPC, be sure to remove the muzzle weight, degrease it thoroughly, and reinstall it using Loctite, or one of the several other fixes recommended here on the board to keep it from coming loose. They have a habit of doing so.

My 34K has about the same barrel length. It is a little harder to cock than my other 34's. Not a lot but you notice it.
