Well new seals, wiper and Air valve assembly arrived this evening for my Daisy 747. Ordered 2 seal kits and 2 replacement valves from Daisy. I've had it for several years and have run several thousand pellets through it. It was still shooting well but was struggling to cut clean holes in the paper and figured I give the old gun a once over.
Not as bad as I was thinking.
- Removed the grips
- Removed 3 screws in the receiver side after insuring the safety was on. If not, a very tiny ball bearing and spring will go flying. I was lucky and found mine in the carpet.
- Once the three screws are removed the gun falls into 4 parts. The barrel and cylinder, Sides and Grip frame and trigger housing.
- Then I removed the rear sight by unscrewing the adjustment screw to free the nut. When your ready to reassemble there is a slot the nut will fit into when the 2 halves are properly aligned. This is a must or you will fight it trying to get things back together.
- Removed the screw at the front of the cylinder holding the cocking lever and front sight.
- Removed the barrel, front sight and cocking lever
- Clean and replace seals, wiper and Valve
- Reassemble
Seals were not in to bad a shape but you can see the old valve compared to the new one and the wiper was crumbling.
My first air gun repair 8) Cant wait to try it out if the rain stops tomorrow.

Not to many people own one, so keep it on the DL.

After the rebuild the cocking lever seems very free? Cock the gun, fire it and tip the gun to the left and the handle will just drop away from the side. The screw that holds the lever and the front sight in place seems to be as tight as I can get it.
Any suggestions?
I'm also unsure about the piston adjustment. Any tips on the steps you use to verify piston adjustment would be appreciated.

Just found a YouTube video of a 777 that displays the same behaviour. Maybe this is more normal than I thought.

The charging handle should NOT drop away from the pistol when tilted.
The charging handle on my 747 stays in place.

isnt there an adjustment on the arm to make it overcenter? i think you have to make it by trial and error till you get it just right. good writeup. im proud of you , i seen you didnt use cheep harbor freight tools. lots of fine guns are buggered up with cheep tools . looks like craftsman tools

Robert said what I could not find the word for...overcenter.
I found a pix that shows what you need to adjust to get the overcenter to work.
