Title: Daisy 220 ( Made for Daisy in Scotland)
Post by: Strikar on April 03, 2013, 11:05:00 PM
Thought I would share my .177 CAL Made for Daisy in Scotland 220.

I have had this for years, never really thought about it.
But found it in the back of closet and decided to give it a restore job.

The way it looks now.

Took it all apart, softened up the leather pump cup, and put it back together.
Shot 225 fps on the chrony.
Uhmmm
Probably should have some type of seal here.

Put an fat o-ring there, and it shot 461 fps. Not bad.

Tore it back apart for cleaning and painting.
Overview of parts for anyone interested.

Thanks for posting the pictures.  I happen to have one as well but need a couple of parts for it.  The barrel lock and the set screw were missing.  I tried to manufacture one but it's not quite working yet.  Do you know where to find a manual for it and or parts?

Thanks again!

During my searches, I found a website that has manuals for the Diana models of the Daisy 220.  I can't post external links so if you would like to find it search for vintage diana resources.

I still would like to see if anyone knows where I can buy parts.

Strikar,

If you could post a picture of the catch pin I would appreciate it.  As I mentioned, I have tried to manufacture one but do not have the dimensions for the part.

Thanks in advance.

Ur velocity numbers sound about right, for that little gun.

It’s a shame they don’t make youth-springers like that anymore

I know, a gun like this would be a springer I could actually enjoy.
I just saw a Winchester example ( or perhaps a copy ) ok eBay with the box but I've got other things I need right now.

Here's a HyScore 806 (aka Diana 22 Winchester 422) I believe it's the same as the Daisy 220?

Very similar, but not identical.  The Daisy was made by Milbro of Scotland, using a pre-WW II Diana design.  The Winchester was made by Diana in Germany.  The parts that tend to wear out - seals and springs - are interchangable.

Just acquired a Daisy model 220 “made in Scotland”. Appears to be in good to VG condition, The cosmetic blemishes are confined to the stock, but even those are just finish related. A good cleaning and test fire to come. Did not receive an owner/operator manual with it, but really like the look of the little plinker.
