Title: Benjamin Marauder Fill Adapter
Post by: keith2324 on August 12, 2011, 12:00:28 PM
Is there any way to fix a leak on an Mrod fill adapter? I have one leaking at the center (nipple adapter). From looking at the schematic on the Crosman site, it looks like part number 1761-106 is the culprit. If anyone has any info on how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Keith.

Keith first of course is to make sure air tube is empty(degasser tool or what ever mean's), after that it is just removing the "whole" fill front section, to keep from marring up the part I use the barrle band it's self as the wrench by tightening the set screw's down, turn as far as you can, loosen/tighten an repeat till you can unscrew by hand, once it is off you just need to replace the 0-ring you suspect. That little needle valve an ring take a beating when filling, opening an slamming shut under all that pressure. While you have it open inspect your air chamber for rust an hey might as well deping it while your in there.

Thanks for the info Jay. I have already depinged it but I will look again for any moisture build-up/rust. Do you have any idea what size o-ring fits?

Thanks,

Keith.

No problem. I'll just take it to an automotive shop and see it I can find something comparable.
Thanks,

Keith.

It has to be an o-ring that is causing the leak.  I would check on the durometer level of the Crosman o-ring before buying my own.   You don't want to get something weaker or softer when dealing with 2-3k psi of pressure.  What is the warranty on the Marauder anyway?  Why not have them ship you the o-ring?

It has been awhile but IIRC when I took apart a Marauder fill adapter the check valve had a Acetal (delrin) washer on it. Not a typical O-ring.

That is correct Rescue35. I have taken it apart and it isn't your normal o-ring. Any suggestions?

Keith.

BTW....I did call Crosman and they want to sell me a new fill adapter. I don't have a problem with that, but if I can fix this on my own, it would save some time and I could learn something in the process.

I would inspect it for any damage and if there are not any nicks or dings I would clean it up and try getting it to seat with the fill fitting. I would love to say "polish it" if that doesn't work. You wanr to get it nice and smooth.

The entire fill adapter (tube cap, check valve, seal, and foster QC) is $9 and change from Crosman. Plus $4 shipping and possibly 3 weeks waiting.

You might try Lowes as they have interesting things in there parts bin.

I would turn down a new seal for you as I have the stuff to do it with. The down side is I will be out of town for the next two weeks working.

Thanks for the offer. No worries. I'll just try to clean it up the best way I know how. Worst case is I will have to order a new one.
