So I got my recluse apart and now I'm going over and smoothing out the sharp burrs and machining marks. I thought I'd start this thread as a work in progress.
Tonight I drilled and tapped for 1/4-28 on the hammer. I used my Bridgeport mill but a ^#(*% punch and drill press/vise would do the trick. I put this in the handle slot back from where the factory screw goes. Now I can go back to stock fairly easy without disassembly. Just gotta spin up a cylinder to press over a nice strong cap screw and custom cocking handle will be done.
I noticed the fit of the hammer to the tube is pretty loose. I know it needs some slop to work but I think it might be helping to bind when I try to cock it. I don't have gauge pins that size but it looks like 15-20 thousandths of an inch.. maybe as much as 30.. Does this seem an odd fit to you all? Sanding the bore and a light coat of moly paste with oil should make it a bit better.
