Aside from the peeling camo stock, are these the very same gun or did Crosman outsource some of the Remington parts? I know Charlie and Gene have gone into the USA guns and they say they are better built, all around, than the Chinese manufactured, but was the Crosman-branded gun better than the Remington which has replaced it? Aside from being the first, is there any benefit to having a Crosman over a Remington?

Ahem, I don't have one. Someone is selling one and I am wondering if there's any plus to having it over a Remington branded gun.
I was only saying that I know many of the Crosman Nitro camo guns did suffer peeling paint.
So, anyone care to comment?

I purchased on of the original Crosman NPSS rifles when they were first brought to market. It suffered from the peeling stock problem. Crosman promptly replaced the rifle after they resolved the peeling issue at no cost to me. Can't say enough about their great Customer Service. And the NPSS rocks, too!!

I think I can shed some light on this... Yes from my experience the Crosmans are mush better! I have a crosman and ever since it came out of the box it cocks and shoots perfectly. However a friend of mine bought one a year later and it was a remington, strait out of the box it had a nasty grinding noise when cocked, probably piston scraping the ram? I know this is a common thing for NPSS but mine always cocked perfectly, never even deburred. His was so bad it made it extremely difficult to cock, so bad he sent it back. The one Crosman sent him as a replacement had the same problem, nowhere near as bad but it's still there. As far as long term goes mine has 5000-8000 shots through it (hard to keep track) while his only has about 1000. I use mine every day in all sorts of conditions and it gets beat up, however it still looks great and shoots as good as ever. His on the other hand doesn't see much use and when it does get used it usually when he's with me in nice weather just casually shooting in the back yard. That being said his is already falling apart, the barrel wobbles slightly, the stock screws wont stay tight, there's a vibration when its shot and it wont hold a group past 10 yards. We've checked all the screws and such and it's been properly maintained, still it's just falling apart.
From this I can conclude that yes, the crosmans are made a little better, even the bluing on mine looks better. I don't know if he just got a lemon (or 2) or what but it certainly doesn't have the same magic as mine. I wouldn't say the gun is worthless but if the really did change the gun for the worse I'd like to see a price drop.
