Well I got the gun on on Friday, with just enough time to clean the bore and give it a couple test shots at dark. Mounted the scope with loctight on sat and let it sit til this morning.
My first impression of the gun is great so far. Feels like much better quality. I'm like the feel and look of the stock, and it has a much more satisfying thud than the Big Cat's twang. The trigger is as described or worse(looooong pull), but I'm getting used to it. May try adjusting it some, Is the adjustment screw on the one that goes through the stock on the AW model or is it just behind the trigger? The diagram that came with it is for the wood stock version.
I sighted it in this morning at 10 yards and managed to get a pretty ragged 1 hole group. Moved out to 20 and its shooting high but fairly consistent 1 inch groups. I'm impressed so far as I'm just using cphp and the horribly trigger. It smokes just a little bit after the first 25 shots or so, but not too bad.

I wouldn't even bother with trying to adjust that trigger. I would spend the $32 for a GRT III, it is well worth the money.

Hey AW,,do yourself a favor like Perry suggests and get yourself a GRT III trigger. My Xl 1100 was miserable before I got the Trigger and now I can't wait to get the bushing kit ready so i can put her back in action after her full tune.I Love my Trail and she is Deadly out to 36 yards on the big one's,he he.She's was pushing Predators at 832 fps before her tune and the seal was in pretty bad shape,(As they all seem to be from the factory)so I'm hoping she'll be 10 or 20 fps faster after her tune and New bushing kit. Hope you enjoy the AW,and if you like it now, well you'll Love it after the GRT's installed. Happy Shooting.

I ordered the grt trigger this morning. Just may tinker with the stocker some on Thursday or Friday when I'm off work. Where are you getting the bushing kit from? Is it the brass washers that replace the plastic in the pivot?

Don't believe the hype! I am extremely accurate with my XL1100. Thats right I said it. Magnum break barrels are one of the most challengeing rifles there are to shoot for accuracy. YOU WILL BE FORCED to adhere to all the rules of shooting. Proper hold, proper breathing, proper trigger pull(straight back),consistant cheek placement, holding your crosshairs naturally(very important),heart rate, staying in the scope etc.,etc. But that will only make you a better marksman. If someone tells you it's inacurate, it's because they failed to rise to the challenge. Bottom line, this rifle is as accurate as the shooter, period.

According to this this
http://www.velocitypress.com/BeemanKodiak.shtml,
a Beeman Kodiak has taken out a woodchuck at ~60yards, more than enough power and accuracy to get the job done...
I'm sure the .22 would suffice in that power range.

Crowkilla, that why I got the trail. To practice and improve my shooting. So far I've done pretty good so far. I just put in the new trigger and have to get use to it all over again. Got a crow at 45-50 yards, good center mass shot dropped him out of the tree, and gave it a follow up shot (center mass) again for good measure. I ordered some different pellets (polymags, crows, and jumbos) that should carry more whallup downrange.
What does yours like for those long shoots?

Also crowkilla where did you get the sunshade? I've looked at a couple on eBay. Did it match the finish the centerpoint scope before the paintjob?

First of all, nice shot on the crow. An average size crow has a 2 inch killzone at 50+ yards. That means with a forward facing profile, from dead center mass, if you miss more than one inch to the left or right your hittin wing. Now if your right up against the body your gonna nock it down but they're tough and will recover and flee quicker than he_l. Even thier feathers are tougher than most any game bird youll find. You should see the fat monsters down in Branson Mo area.YEEEEESH

Second, the long shot is why I chose the XL1100. I wanted 2 things. A quality magnum single stroke platform, and 25+ fpe with the ability to carry the majority of it out to 100+yrds. After several home mods and tunes, 3000 or so shots and my 1100 is a legitamite, consistant 27 foot pound gun with 21grn roundnose. I found my magic bullet for the long shot in the beeman copper plated 14.72.(even better than the earlier lighter version) You give up deformity and enrgy transfer, but the wieght, speed, distance, and retained muzzle energy is ridiculous. I would tell you my longest(wittnessed)shot so far has been, but you would'nt believe me. For varmit huntn it's the pred or a 16grn spitzkugel. I like hunt.Paper shmaper.
