You need LESS spring tension.....or a shorter stroke (if not using the o-ring buffer...can't remember if you are or not). More spring tension (energy) moves the peak of the curve to a higher pressure and less tension moves it to a lower pressure. Right now the peak of your curve is somewhere above 2000 PSI so you are only seeing the downside of the curve.Decrease spring tension until you get the curve.....then you can start working on velocity.
We POWER UP on 1.6 to 1.8k pressure regularly with near zero hammer spring preload by increasing flow within valve and reducing poppet spring tension. The SYN-ROD uses a MASSIVE STIFF poppet spring ... just replacing it with the Gen 1 spring will raise power changing nothing else.* In tunes where we use a Reg and LW hammer, an even softer poppet spring gets fitted. There is much more that can be done to raise the power on the same pressure & hammer spring settings. Your just getting you feet wet on the intricacies of the details.
SR1SWS,Let me give a try with my stats program for the tune your looking for with your current set-up. I think your set-up can do what you want with what you have. MotorHead and Bstaley are spot on with the poppet spring. It make perfect sense to lower the poppet spring if you run a lighter hammer. Just doesn't make sense to me (but doesn't matter). Like everyone says, there are many many ways to tune. I am kind of interested in the performance of a lighter hammer. The offers here if you want to give it a shot.Charge somewhere between 1500psi and 1700 psi and run the test below (no need to recharge between shots). V 1/4 1/8 2.0 5 0 PSI = 4.5 5 9 PSI=4.5 0 0 PSI=2.0 0 9 PSI=When your finished, hook me up with the numbers and I will hook you up with a bunch of tunes that should be really close to what your looking for. It's almost like mapping your gun. I like it because like you, the 3 settings make you crazy. Well, made me crazy.
Thanks Motorhead. I just hope Whatssquirrel likes it. I cant thank the guys enough for testing out the tune. I am learning a ton just plotting the numbers.I have been really considering getting the light weight hammer and seeing what I can do with it. If you and Hill ever get together with your parts I know something big would come out of it.Your lightweight hammer with Hill's valve sounds just so right to me for a super high shot count between 20fpe and 35fpe at a low fill.
Sr1ws,Wanted to give you a heads up on the tune I got for Whatsquirrel. I am chompin at the bit here to do you one. 80 shots total with a bad spread but definitely 60 with a good ES stock.853853870877884885898901894903901892907908911915906917920923920927932932935930929942942935937939938941935941941942947945945943934951952940940937937938938936936923924924924925923922926923916909907904902894903887896889889889873854853850874843
Sr1SWS,Here's a tune table from 700fps to 850 fps. I forgot to tell you that you only needed to do 1 shot from each setting. No big deal. Your tune table looks very different from Whatsquirrels. Not saying anything could be wrong with the numbers or how you made your settings. Could be just the lighter hammer making it look really different.FYI, when I did Whatsquirrel, his was off about 50fps from the target fps setting. I am not sure how yours will end up.Post a string when you get a chance.
