What was the air gun that got you hooked on airgunning?

I'm new to the forum and there might be a thread on this already somewhere, but I did a quick search and couldn't find one. What was the air gun that got you hooked? I had air guns from when I was very young. I remember some of them but nothing stands out from those early years. The rifle that got me hooked was a friends Winchester 435 (made by Diana). I couldn't get over the accuracy and power of that barrel cocking rifle at the time, which was around 1976-77. Money was hard to come by in those days for a teenager so it took me a while to afford to by a springer of my own. I ordered an El Gamo 300 from Doc Beeman in 1979 and I still have it. It has been shot countless thousands of times. I rebuilt it last year and I still enjoy shooting it as much as any of my more expensive guns. That Winchester 435 is the one that hooked me though. I don't know if I would have ever gotten serious about air guns if I had never shot that rifle.

My Crosman Storm XT. I shot it till it broke. I want hunting for information on how to fix it, when I stumbled on here... That was many air rifles ago.

For me it was this one:
It might have been a re branded euro-version though, I don't remember.
It wasn't the first one I shot but it was the first one I bought myself, without my parent's knowledge, so I could shoot it anywhere I like instead of just in the backyard under supervision. I guess that's why you have to be 18 nowadays if you want to buy airguns
My best friend and I both had one and we had an absolute blast with these things even though it could barely break a beer bottle at 4 yards away. Not sure what happened to it though. I may have sold it to help finance something a bit more powerful. Darned, now I want one again.

1377 & Airhawk.
My Daisy Buck, 880, and Blue Streak were just what I used until I got a .22LR rifle.
The 1377 and Air Hawk brought me back.

The first one.
I don't remember what model it was but after that I had to have one of my own.

For me it wasn't the first one. That was part of why I asked the question. I was curios about whether most people got hooked immediately or there was some particular gun that did the trick. I think I was so young with the first ones I just didn't appreciate them. By the time I shot the Winchester 435 I already had a 20 gauge shotgun, a 22 LR, and a 30-30 Winchester. That Winchester air rifle is what brought me back to air guns for what they are.... just plain fun! I've continued with powder burners, but I always do more shooting with air guns just because they don't require as much room to shoot safely. I have a range set up in my barn that I shoot all year long. There are parts of the winter when you have to be very dedicated to shoot outdoors in New Hampshire!

crosman 760 when I was a kid and shooting birds in my grandads back yard then switched to powder for many years. grabbed a gamo springer off amazon to deal with a couple pests around the house. searched YouTube to find out how to shoot it accurately and make the trigger better and stumbled upon pcp air rifles and what they were capable of. now I shoot field target and hunt exclusively with air. the accuracy, power, and ability to shoot without spooking everything is worth it to me. field target gives me something to practice and become better at. the forums feed this addiction and I'm very thankful for everyone I've dealt with and met and to those here that share their wealth of knowledge to make our air guns even better. great people make this hobby what it is to me.

It wasn't actually an airgun for me. It was the 1976 July edition of Field and Stream magazine- the first issue of my first magazine subscription. I saw an add for Adult Airguns by none other than the Good Doctor himself. I sent a request for a catalog and was hooked.
I still plan on one day owning a C-1; nobody makes so-called "carbine" stocks with a straight grip anymore except the Winchester CO2 gun.
I've had a number of airguns over the years; including a very-heavily-used C-9 'dan that killed a lot of pests when I was doing avian abatement, then I bought a 1377 with an Amazon gift card and the beast that was slumbering for a number of years woke back up.

Dave,
You were lucky. My dad was against all guns. So the first one I ever shot was a neighbor kids break barrel air rifle.

At about 11 years old, I was into those dime slingshots. Shooting it with bbs seemed to be the ultimate backyard fun. Then along comes my friend with a pump up Benjamin. It was "Wow". Penetration through steel cans, shots at fruit hanging on the neighbor's tree, and somehow just cocking that bolt to load a pellet was fun. When I got to be over 18, I bought my first Benjamin. Then a little later a Beeman HW50S, which was even more of a "Wow".

I remember it very well. It was 1986. The gun was an early Daisy 880 that lived in our garage. My dad taught me to shoot it, and my grandfather helped refine my skills by taking me grasshopper hunting in a large cow pasture throughout the summer. We would spot and stalk and then if we were lucky bag the hoppers. It was tons of fun for an 8 year old. I was only allowed to shoot the gun with I think 3 pumps max.

Gamo Bone Collector. Just wanted something to plink with. I would never need a PCP . . . right?
Yeah, one year later, and the addiction finally won me over to the Darkside.

I remember mine very well. It was a Crosman 760. I shot that thing until it quit at my grandpa's farm. Possom, squirrel, rats, pigeon and starling, nothing was safe around there. After it quit I got a Crosman 2100. Many years of PB until 5 or 6 years ago, then better break barrel rifles and the past 2 or 3 years I went to the Darkside and loving it. That old 760 still holds a place in my heart, kinda like my first girlfriend.

I had BB guns before but in 1963 I was twelve and with grass cutting money I bought a Dasiy model 94 BB rifle. A replica springer of the M 94 Winchester 30-30. I paid $12-15 for it. Now I see they sale for about $400. That was my last air gun until Dec. 2012.
I decided to learn to shoot left handed after my right eye messed up. I bought a Beeman RS2 dual cal then a Silent Cat and Air Hawk.
But I think getting into shooting and rebuilding old Chinese guns hooked me. B3's, 2's and 1's. Then QB57's,TS45's, B4-1, a Fastdeer and a couple of B3-1 AK's. Lately though I'm into Mendozas.

It wasn't a gun for me, it was an event. Back when Obama was threatening massive gun controls and everyone started hording ammo. I wanted to go plinking with my then son in law, but I could not get any .22 cal ammo. As the months went by and no .22 was coming back I started looking for an alternative. That's when I found Ted's videos and started to see what an air rifle can do. And as they say, the rest is history!
