Rebuilt '72 FWB 300

(1/2) > >>

John_W.:
Last fall I bought a pair of FWB 300's.

Both were ex-Boy Scout trainers and this one was badly abused.

The wood had been stripped and refinished - poorly!

The front sight was damaged and the muzzle/riflings damages for about an inch into the barrel.

I refinished the wood, installed new springs and seals, cut back and re-crowned the barrel and added a muzzle weight to cover the cut end and to make it look like a 300S Running Boar.

I have a vintage Hy-Score scope for it, but I have a 3x9 Simmons on it in the photo.

Hoosier Daddy:
Great looking Fräulein you got their now John.
That wood turned out very, very nice!
How does she shoot after all that work?

John_W.:
Thanks!
It shoots much better than before, but not as well as I'd like...yet.

It's shooting about 5mm c-to-c at 10m, but some of that may be due to the scope not really being very good at these close ranges.

In the mean time, it's good enough to hunt crickets this summer!

John

Hoosier Daddy:
One ragged holer should be doable then once you get the scope sorted out... but 5mm c to c wouldn't be far off from a sides touching "clover pattern".
That's about what I can do on a good day outdoors. Not my guns fault at all!  ;D ;)

John_W.:
Agreed on all points! The scope...my eyes...

I think I'm already spoiled as the other of the pair, with the factory sights, is a serious one-holer!

It gets refinished next!

Thanks for the feedback!

john
