Glad to here it! Its looking like I'll only be able to make it Saturday butI'm excited to try FT for the first time! One question that just hit me isI see in the video's most people have a stand of sorts for their rifleis that a needed accessory? I'm thinking maybe I'll use a quick release bipod so Ican set the rifle down or I could bring the case along depending on how that all goes
Me and wife will be there also. She has to work some of the event but will be shooting the ft event. The only thing needed is a case to keep rifle in when not in use and a bumbag if not using a bucket. I seen you shooting open class so I assume you have one already a kneepad would be useful also for kneeling lanes and to rest your gun on.
Thanks for clearing that up, I'll plan on using a case.Another question I had was my rifle gives my about 40 good shots per fillI know some courses are around 60 shots(not sure what this course is?)but if one is going to have to refill is it customary to carry a small pony tank with youon the course or do you break to refill?Looking forward to meeting you all, and thanks for your help,Joseph

Alright got registered yesterday and got in some more practice time last nightas well as found a new pellet that is looking like it shoots a bit better.(AA 10.3gr)Wish I could make it Friday but I have work as well as an appointment...Sunday is still up in the air if it works out great otherwise I'll see you Saturday. Thanks for the tip Hector I wouldn't have thought of that as I'm usually shooting/filling aloneso that's never been an issue, I'll definitely try and be careful to be mindful that!Next question... Can any one link me to a good place to do some reading or watchingon pistol FT? particularly positions. I haven't seen much on that and I'd like to get some practice in.Also a clarifying question for hangy tank in open I believe it says the tank can't touch your bodywhat about if you run a coily remote with a tank in a backpack? would it be aloud if the hose coming from the grip is in contact?
I'll be there as well, wearing my faded Patriots hat and recently trimmed beard. Staying at the Microtel in Henrietta/Rochester. I'll get there thursday afternoon.
My pleasure, Joe!Shooting is such a personal and introspective sport that we often forget that FT is social thing where we are in close contact with a hundred or so like minded guys. A grain of good manners and etiquette will go a long way in making our sport healthier and more positive. If you have not done so, read the AAFTA Handbook's section on shooting etiquette (page 46), written by Rodney Boyce many years ago, it still stands as a good guiding light.
On your coily thingy, I CANNOT see ANYTHING in the rules against that, as long as the tether is not used as a tension sling to steady the aim, I would be OK with it.You CAN write to Sean McDaniel (MD for the match) at: SMcDaniel@thequartzgroup.com to get an official opinion from him.
If you go to my blog entry on the recent Massachusetts Bay Colony Challenge : http://www.ctcustomairguns.com/hectors-airgun-blog/the-massachusetts-bay-colony-challenge-2016And you scroll down to the last few notes where we post the results of the PFT shoot of that GP, you will see a good picture that shows shooters using the Pistol HFT position (with bipods), and those that are shooting "hands only".The best scores are usually turned in by shooters using the Hunter position. Though the Californians get darned good in the Open PFT class. For a FIRST TIMER, and thinking about your Coily thingy, I would recommend the Open class and shooting from PRONE with an unattached bipod. In this way it would be more difficult to object to your coily thingy, as it would be laying on the ground and no tension on the tether line would be possible.BUT, that is JMHO, Write to Sean, he is a REALLY nice guy and let him know. He will answer if he can. If you do not get any answer from him (which I doubt very much), let me know and we will raise the question at the BOG level.Hope you can make it Saturday AND Sunday.See you there!
