Teryx stock for Discovery- gauging interest
«

I will sitting down down next week with my machinist - there will be a short list and a long list of what rifles I want to provide Aluminum stocks for in the very near future- and down the road- I want to build an Al. chassis for an RWS 54 now too...
Disco in Teryx : good- or bad ??
looking for your feed back.
Mrod Gen2 in on the drawing board right now.
Challengers was a special request (JROTC 10m) I will be looking into this week....the Disco and Challenger are sooo close one frame could almost do both guns but not quite. Must submit chassis to NRA at some point and see if they rule it out or it will stand as a sporting rifle category??
I did set my Discovery down into the Teryx frame- it is loose sure- action mounting hole was off by so little - but the over all shape inlet are not far from the Mrod gen1..
For now that rifle action is sitting in the modified Challenger stock I have been playing with....
thank you for your time- interest and any constructive advice you'll offer

Howdy Alan,
I'll give you my take on the Teryx for the disco (love the Teryx for the Marauder by the way)
(1) The disco, in my opinion, is a poor man's gun and/or one that you can dump a lot of money into that you could have originally put towards a different rifle. Nothing wrong with either of those as some don't have a lot of excess cash flow for guns and some just love to tinker. That being said, one would have to pick a market to chase with the Teryx stock. Is this going to be a more budget friendly price point stock or are we looking at a stock that would cost as much as the disco itself?
(2) I'm no machinist, but could you theoretically make adapters in the areas of difference between the challenger / disco / 22xx ? Something to the likes of selling configurations:
- A: Teryxstock with discovery adapter $xxx
- B: Teryxstock with 22xx adapter and disco adapter $xxx
etc etc
(3) Random Ideas:
- Will there be room or a design for rear velocity adjusters?
- A built in pellet holder for those that don't have Multi Shot Breaches would be cool ie like a cut to fit pipe insulator in a machined insert section
- A solid barrel band (connected to the forearm) to isolate the tube and the barrel?
- A STOCK ADAPTER / INSERT THAT ALLOWS THE USE OF MARAUDER TRIGGERS!!
- Can you tell I like the previous bullet point?
- Dave

One goal will be to make one or two rifle profiles with beddings- or action mounts that we can then pull and change at will-
I want "one universal" stock I can put the disco into - or a Mrod- or challenger or?? A modular design - trigger spud will still move back and forth -
and the area just forward of the gauge hole to the back of the trigger guard will all be one sleeve that comes and goes via two pins (m16 style ) or standard screw mount...
there is room for change and also by cutting down all all the extra machine time I hope to bring in the Disco specify chassis at a reduced cost but .....it would still be better to focus my attention on a 'UNI. FRAME' with inserts as needed instead.
FOR right now I will make runs for these rifles specific to their action the Disco frame will allow for the Vel. Adjuster- that was mention to me late last night....I will make that happen

Hi I think this is a great idea. I have a disco .22 that i got from norm in june. I love the gun. I refinished the stock and am quite proud of it but it would be nice to have a stock that is interghangable easily and is more suited for hunting. The only suggestion i would give is to make the lop adjustable. As you can see on mine i added length for comfort.
If you need a test subject let me know

sling studs would be nice
not a bipod person myself, though some would likely be able to attach one of those.

I'm onboard for sure. Bring on the Teryx Uni-Stock. (You may use that name, only if I get the first Uni-Stock for testing for free---lol).

Thanks Dana- think you and John have seen more of the wood stocks than any one else
- I don't think I could do a better job at the Thumbhole stock than Norm- does with the Boyd's Blaster stock- My version of that stock is not so much a thumbhole that is right or left handed- mine is more of the grip attached to the butt stock- I will have to confirm but think the Remington m24 sniper rifle has the same style stock I'd like to bring out
not wanting to step on his (Norm at Discos R US) toes or try to OUT do him - I just can't compete with the Boyds blaster blanks and Norms great service - plus I like to keep friendly with him - I will be getting another Disco and this time I will get it from Norm- Maybe even another Gen2 Marauder in 177 this time to build a Field Target gun for fun....
the Sporter stock is the one I like the most so far, and have spent the most time walking around with it in my hands and prepping for a finish- maybe because it has a Rose wood tip at the front of the stock- I would never have guessed the Black and Yellow laminate would have been so cool looking- and the more I have it around the more I like the looks---they called it Bumble Bee - but my kids call it Tiger stripe-
I have to get some pictures posted but I am a little slow and can not figure out to make the image smaller to fit the allowable bit format??
Joe
looked at the trigger pictures -- IF I had one ( trigger pack> ) I could say for sure- but the Teryx Stock will be cut as direct drop in for stock Actions
IF your modified platform sits perfectly in the un- altered factory stock then it should fit the Alloy stock . Just not 100%- sure unless I see it done or do it my self.

Hey Alan,
If I have to get a M-rod trigger for my Disco, then that will be fine. I do want a Teryx for my Disco, in red or camo---both actually, if you make them.
Keep me in the loop...I do want to purchase one or two.

RED was never available for the public- ONLY one was made- for Rob T. by old owner- Dave S.
I have 3 guys so far wanting Disco Teryx-
colors can be done by request- they are BRIGHT and then cleared coated- I am not stocking these colors- as a one off the minimum cost is 125+ per single frame- I just don't see that working out-
Actions for the Gen2 are at the machinist- he is re-drwaing it NOW to convert it from gen1 to gen2- and then also the Disco...if there is more interest then I can speed that up but it's about demand-
also the 1913 Pic. RAIL may go away?
may switch to a bolt on part -
There is a big request to do a T track bottom on a flat bottom. just like that on the bottom of many High End 10m guns- and others- look at the Challenger stock bottom
my disco has the Mrod trigger- frame should fit both? I need the factory trigger to make sure- that is another gun .177....setting it up as budget F&T gun-

Alan - Do you have any pictures?
The only difference between a Disco and a Challenger in regards to the stock is the gauge location. If you have a hole cut in the bottom for a Disco gauge and a relieved half moon in the right position for a Challenger gauge, both will fit fine.
I use an Mrod trigger group on a 2240 tube in a 2260 stock - all of the parts are available from Crosman.
All you have to do to use an Mrod trigger on a Disco is buy the Disco stock lug and stock screw - the Mrod trigger is already drilled and tapped to accept this configuration.
It does require you to use a Challenger trigger guard, but again - the screw location is already drilled and tapped on the Mrod trigger.
I've found its VERY important to have the pressure tube fully free floated from the stock to achieve the highest accuracy...otherwise the pressure pulse during the shot cycle can bump against the stock and tweak barrel harmonics.
I'm in the middle of building some custom full stainless Discos for a 3k psi fill with one piece Picatinney railed breeches and a 9/16" OD .250" 1:22" twist barrels I designed...I'm interested in your stocks!
Please post some pics or PM them to me...

I got it ...I'm heading to bed - I will call you tomorrow.
I think your stock is the perfect solution for my Extreme Weather All Stainless Disco!
And *No* - its not a one off build...these will be production custom guns - that's for another thread though as soon as the first one is finished.

i like the concept. However like some said before the reason i have a disco is its inexpensive. makes no sense for me anyways to add a $200 or more stock to a $175 dollar gun.
