I have a raw .25 cal FDPCP barrel, what do you guys recommend for blueing? I have never blued a barrel before could I powder coat or paint it with a satisfactory result?

Based on good product reviews, I used Tetra Gun Liquid Blue on the same barrel. I've used other brands for small parts and holster wear, but this (and another in .22) were my first attempts with any kind of ambition. Both barrels came out blotchy, but usable.
Good luck.

I tried cold bluing before and had trouble neutralizing the metal from rusting. I did see a Larry Potterfield video where he showed how he rust blued gun parts. What I took from that video was boiling my barrel after cold bluing and then neutralizing the cold bluing with linseed oil. Stayed rust free for quite awhile but has been so humid here and from neglect developed rust spots. If needed to do it all again I might try painting. But first need to make sure the barrel will fit the barrel band.
As for paint I like Duracoat engine paint with ceramic it sands and buffs out to a nice finish. Maybe I should have just painted the barrel from the start but had leftover cold bluing and just had to try it. Anyways that is my limited experience and good luck with what you choose.

Hey Kowboi,
There should be someone local who wouldn't mind throwing it into their Hot Bluing batch. I found someone who would blue a whole pellet gun for $25. You may have to wait awhile to get it done, but the job will likely look a lot better than cold bluing or painting

Do gun gun shops do the blueing or what? I have no idea.

Hey Kowboi,
Some
shops probably use a local person that blues guns. Do a Google search on Hot Bluing in you area.
At least find out how much they charge vs. cold bluing (which will be substandard).
