The subject line pretty much says it. I was out back shooting when suddenly it would fire while barely touching the trigger. That happened maybe 3 or 4 times and then it wouldn't cock. I took the action out of the stock and then it would cock. I put the action back in the stock and shot it maybe 4 or 5 more times and then it happened again. Any insight on what would cause this?

Gen I or II? Other than that I would take the trigger housing off and work the cycle to visually see what's happening. Also the placement of the trigger housing front or back affects the engagement of the cocking of the hammer. JMO

Gen 1's have 2 vertically positioned grub screws on backside of trigger block.
These screws adjust amount of sear engagement and over travel distance.
They have a jam nut that holds the rotation position, nut comes loose grub screw turns ... BAD if direction has sear no longer holding.

It's a Gen I. I thought it might be the trigger group but just didn't have the time to mess with it yet, will check it out and post results.

backing the top screw out until you have about 1/16 inch engagement of the trigger and sear should get it about right, wear from use may require more...
